Former real estate tycoon Robert Campeau, who recently moved back to Ottawa from Europe, has been spotted dining there. Mr. Beckta has hired Stephen Vardy, a well-known Ottawa restaurant chef, to head the cooking staff.

Mr. Beckta's fiancee, Maureen Cunningham, who runs an Ottawa management consulting firm, helps out in the restaurant on weekends. The couple plans to marry in September. 1 Mr. Beckta says customers are "raving" about his restaurant, and the response has been beyond his expectations.

Mike Nemesvary, the Ottawa man who raised more than $1 million for victims of spinal cord injuries, will be honoured with the key to the city next week. Mayor Bob Chiarelli is giving the award to Mr. Nemesvary for his achievements since he lost the use of his arms and legs in a trampoline accident. The ceremony will be on Wednesday.
