In 1970, she returned to Ottawa to continue her teaching at Immaculata High School she was also the Formation Director for the new community members. In 1979, Sister Bernadette went to Whitby as Superior and Pastoral Associate at St. John's Parish.

She was elected Superior General of the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in 1981, a position she held for eight years. Her final years of ministry were as the Diocesan Coordinator for Adult Faith, Liturgy and Resource in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
