of William Goode Largely Attended The funeral for William Gardener Goode who died at Rel dale were held oh Thursday after noon at 4 o'clock at the Mill Creek Baptist church of which he was a charter member as well as deacon and trustee until the time that he moved to ieldale about ten years ago The services were conducted by Dr McCabe pastor of the irst Baptist church of Martinsville assisted by Rev Soots pastor of the ieldale Baptist church Mrs Pickup of ieldale assisted by the choir ot the Baptist church led In the singing ot several ap propriate hymns at the church On account of the large number of rel atives and acquaintances the church could not hold the crowd who at tended the last rites of Mr Goode At the conclusion of the ceremony In the church his remains were laid at rest In the set their feet upon land again for fifteen months and eight days On December 25 the expedition ar rived at the Ice Barrier and on Janu ary 6 In the middle ot the South Polar a permanent base was
