James Clarke church goods house 647 California street Denver Colo 1 John Reddin Honored To John Reddin a Denver attorney has fallen the honor of having the national board of directors of the Knights of Columbus accept a ritual written by him to take the place of the ones formerly used in first second and Third degree ceremonies Considering that the knights have fer years been Ij trying to depart from the ritual which has stood since the inception of the idea of an order such as now exists and I that nothing satisfactory has been available until Mr Reddins work was presented to the national board his is signal triumph and one which places life name large and bold on the pages I of the annals of Knights of Columbus I Kir Reddin is now a member of the national board He was one of the I ajmrter members of Denver council 539 Mid since then has held every high office la time council as well as in the state organization Some months ago the national board entrusted the work of preparing a new mutual to a distinguished professor in i nn eastern college He spent no little lime on It and the order paid him well for his services But the board was Jot satisfied with the finished work Quietly Mr Keddin had been embody ins some or Ills own ideas in a ritual and he had it ready to present when the fine which had been ordered was rejected It met with the unanimous approval i of the hoard and the following resolution was passed expressive i 6f the sentiments of the national ofii cersWhereas 1 Whereas Brother John Reddiu has without compensation performed splendid work on the revision of the I nrt and second degree ceremonials and jierfcctcd an entirely new third degree ceremonial be Itt That this board in the 1 name the order extend to him its thanks and appreciation of his valu I ullc service Perhaps those outside the Knights of Oolumbuf cannot appreciate the service I Ir lloddhi has rendered his brothers I Nor can they grasp the beauties of the I mid ritual all of which is kept secret The old one was recognized as being I specially fine And the fact that Mr Raddlns composition uPi lants it is a sufficient guarantee of its splendid I points i At the last meeting of the national board si petItion from Stockholm Swe dwt was received indicating that Catholic men there want a branch of the rdcr The petition was rejected the Knights of Columbus covering only the territory added to the known world by the discoveries of Christophere Colym bus Franco England and Ireland have i tall been refused the right to establish i branches i Recently lodges have been started in i Buenos Ayres Brazil Havana Cuba and the canal zone Mr Keddin Is receiving I the congratulations of Knights of Columbus throughout the country on adopted the fact that his ritual has been I Queens Daughters Year Book I The yearbook for 1909 for the Denver chapter or Queens Daughters has been distributed to the members of that society It is a neat little book bound I in blue cloth and carrying the emblem I of the society in gold on the cover It i has not only the complete program of meetings for the year but the various I standing committees the total membership and the bylaws and constitution i Wedding Bells The marriage of Arthur Lahcy formerly of sper Wyo and Miss Stella I Andrews of I3oaton Mass was an I interesting event of last week It occurred at St Elizabeths church and absolutely Independent of the monthly income of the church wliich is used for the maintenance of church parochial i rwUdenec mid school The idea of the pastor is I that many will contribute I monthly small installments if visited ftjgularly who do not feel they can tiga a subscription which may one day prove to be a tar on them The col Iwtor had a meeting on Tuesday night of this week with Father McMcJiamin the pastor and talked over the best way of starting the plan The meeting aa largely attended but more volunteers are required in order to cover the I territory with little work to each col Committees I wore appointed and the tickets will be I I distributed in a short time The fea hue of the evening was the reading of I a paper on the NapoleonJosephine di I jvorce by Maurice Hickey whose and en cared for at St Vincents but the sisters I feel 1 the infants could receive better medical attention if placed near SL Josephs hospital Of course there is i no aid society to support the new home but its friends hope for that later and in the meantime private contributions will not be wanting A Meet Branch No 1095 Ladles Catholic Benevolent association held a dance Thursday evening April 9 at Goss hall in North Denver The menrbers worked very hard to make the affair the success it was and much credit is due them The ball added quite a neat sum to the treasury of the branch St Claras 600 and 700 little ones it is surrounded by twentyfive acres of ground which will be converted into an immense vegetable garden which will be cared for by the larger boys of the institution A I special feature of the new home the lack of which has been frequently deplored in the local orphanage a manual training department for boys while a school of domestic science will properly equip the girls to fill positions as competent housemaids Knights of StJohn Meet I An event which contributed much to the gaiety of the week was the annual ball given by Sheridan Commander No 33 Knights of St
