A. Welsh, 62, 300 Arlington Tamaqua, a mathematics teacher at Tamaqua Area H.S. until last April, died yesterday morning at Coaldale Hospital where he had been a patient since Monday. He hadf been ill since April. TVlr.

Welsh was born in Mahanoy City and lived in all of his life. His parents were the late 'Charles and May me Shrock He was' an outstanding track star at Tamaqua H.S. rbm where he graduated in 1 9 2 8, at a kv Pfre paratory School, ff 'llentown Preparatory School, and Muhlenberg College, from where he graduated 1933. While in high school he ran the half mile in 2:02.2, which stood as, a record until 1961, and the mile in 4:49. This record was broken in 1959.

Mr. Welsh was a member of the Primitive Methodist Church, Tamaqua; the Pennsylvania State Education Association, Citizens Fire Company and a social member of the American Legion. Surviving are his widow, the former Evelyn A. Heath; one son, M.CPO William Welsh, U.S. Navy, San Diego, one grandson, Bill (correct); two brothers, Lawrence Welsh, RD2 Tamaqua; Jack Harpster, Mountaintop; a sister, Mrs.

Born in Saint Clair, he wfes a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jghn Tosh and was employed at the Pottsville Bleach and Dye Port Carbon. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr.

Tosh resided with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Olech- nowicz. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Stella Mrs.
