The regular monthly meeting of the Common Council was held this afternoon, aud the attendance was urm-ually large in view of the fact that an ordinance imposing and collecting taxes on licenses was to be adopted. The committee to whom was referred an ordinance in relation to waterworks reported adversely upon the subject. The election of four members of the School Board, required to be elected to-day, was postponed until next meeting. We have bad a singular manifestation of religion in this city, or at least so alleged. On last Tuesday week a colored woman named Rosa Early while attending a prayermeeting was entranced, and was taken home, in which condition she remained until last Monday without nutriment of any sort.

Upon recovering she professed religiou, and united herself with the church. Mr. N. T. Tatum, who was injured yesterday by being thrown from his Duggy, is represented to be much better to-day.

Mr. W. D. Poythress, collector of delinquent taxes for the city, reports that be has collected on the accounts of 1871 and 1S72, lea ving $2,000 uncollected. The securities of Traylor, of Ettricks, who is under bonds for having horsewhipped Mr.

Internal revenue collections for this district for the past month are $75,650, being within $15 of the amount for March, 1873. The returns indicate a decided improvement in the tobacco business tor the past three months. Interments at Blandford Cemetery for the past month were: Whites, 15; colored, 24. Captain Dunn has finished the map of the city, and the same was suspended in the Council chamber to-day. The candy man protested to-day vigorously against tbe action of the Mayor in elosing up bis establishment by revoking his license, and threatened to defy the officers bv continuing bis business.

'I he police received instructions to deal promptly with him in ease of obstinacy, but it seems that tbe candy man found it to bis advantage not to resist.
