Cormier, 94th year on February 18, 1996, in North Bay, Ontario. Walter was a model entrepreneur teaching himself many trades during his lifetime.

At the age of 13 he left Montreal for the north, and worked in turn as a bucheron, carpenter, ship's mate on Lake Temiskaming and a linesman with Quebec Hydro. Moving from Quebec to Ontario he owned and operated a taxi service in Kirkland Lake and finally spent the rest of his career as a garage owner and operator. Walter is survived by his wife Yvonne; his son Paul, Wilfrid and D'Arcy, proud of their father's legacy, and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He practised law for 48 years and was actively involved for many years with the Timmins District Roman Catholic Separate School Board, O'Gorman High School and the Knights of Columbus. and only sister, Diane Hastie (Don) of Ottawa. He is also survived by his chosen brother, Dr. Fernand Leduc of Wakefield, Quebec. Born in Croydon, England, on October 21, 1926, he immigrated to Canada in 1929 with his brother Terence and their parents John M. Hayes (Jack) (RCMP) and Gwendoline (Duckie).

He served overseas wtih the RCNVR during WW2 and then served forty years with Bell Canada in an outstanding career extending from the high arctic of Canada to Saudi Arabia. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as the many friends and neighbours whom he had the opportunity to acknowledge prior to his passing. Special thanks are extended to Charlie Logue and Dr. Pierre Juery. At his request there will be no visitation nor formal funeral.
