Ou real crime, however, lies in our determination not to allow our country to become a subsidiary province of the Indian empire, and it is for this that we are selected to make room for a stipendiary refugee.

It is for this that the Simlah politicians league with our inveterate enemy. Run iect Sins, and our rebellious subjects of Scinde, to dismember the kingdom and partition its pro- vmces. We. warn them, however, to pause while it is yet time. Let no Soojo-ool-moolk enter Afghanistan supported by foreign bayonets, lest another and another flight should con-sign his name to the lowest pit ot infamy.

Let not the Governor General mock us by pretending to establish the integrity of Afghanistan by an allied array. We appeal to the honor of the British nation; but should1 that appeal be vain, we will submit ourselves to the fortune of war and our good swords, and in support of this declaration we will, in the language, and, wc trust, with the success of the American people, "mutually pledge to our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor'." The weather has been fine throughout the week The Mississippi remains at the same stage as last week, 4i feet below high water-mark. Cotton. For the few days succeeding urlast report, the effect of the speculations alluded to therein continued to be felt, but eince Tuesday last our market has rallied, and large sales hare been made at very full prices. We make some reduction on our previous quotations of Middling and Fair Cottons, in which qualities the principal operations have been made. A small lot of very choice Cotton was sold yesterday above our highest quotation, (say at 19 cts per but it was a particular cropland jiot large enough to warrant a change ki our quotations.
