J. Robert Dell, of Fredericton, beloved husband of Flora (Le Mieux) Dell. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Agnes (Hawken) Dell. He was a veteran of WW Il and was employed by Northern Telecom in various locations across Canada.

He is survived by his wife; 6 children, J. Robert Dell Jr. of Fredericton, Peter Dell of Montreal, David Dell and his wife Leslee of Fredericton, Susan Dell (Nelson) of Ottawa, Catherine Beardsworth and her husband Paul of Riverview, Anne-Marie of Moncton; 8 grandchildren; one sister, Marion Pierce and her husband, George, of Niagara Falls, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel, 160 York Street, Fredericton, on Sunday, April 21, 1996, at 2 p.m.

Interment will take place in the Forest Hill Cemetery. (B.A. Queen's 1933, M.Sc. McGill 1935, Ph.D. Ohio State 1947).

Previously he had been Assistant Professor of Botany for 8 years at Dalhousie University in Halifax and for 2 years at Ontario Agricultural College at Guelph. A grasses specialist, Bill was the senior author, along with John McNeill, of "Grasses of Ontario" (1980). He was well known as an authority on wild rice.
