During his lifetime, Yves had served with the Canadian Army for sixteen years and continued his work for the Department of National Defence for 24 years.

He was active in both St. Monica's and St. Augustine's parishes in various capacities. His diligent work for St. Pius High School helped keep it alive while there was no government funding for grades 1 1 to 1 3.

Through numerous presentations in the last two years, to high schools in the area, Yves helped many teenagers become aware of the reality of AIDS. Yves will be sadly missed by his lifelong friend, helper and wife, Bernadette Leger. He was very proud of his four daughters, Diane MacMartin (Stuart), Suzanne Waugh (Michael), Anne-Marie Hancock (Mark) and Jacqueline Roy. He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Michael and Christopher MacMartin; Derek, David and Rosemary Waugh and Monica, Michael, Andrea and Jason Hancock; and three sisters, Ghislane Pare, Michelle Roy and Rejane Gauthier, all of Quebec City and a brother, Major Denis Roy of Ottawa.
