tm this nnnlrarsary of tho opening of tho territory, tho Democracy of Ok lahoma takes ploasouro in recording Us genulno pride In tho marvelous development and splendid achievement which has characterized tho first thirteen yi rs of the hlstorj' of tho greatest toi ttory this nation has ever croat-od. l-i this short period the torrltory has bt transformed from tho home of the cow and the coyote Info tho free home uf a half million sturdy, intelligent and progressive American citizens, owning three hundred million dollars worth of available assets. Surely such a peoplo are entitled to Amor-lean heritage of self government And wc here and now declaro our Arm conviction that wo aro ontltlod to the rights, privileges and responsibilities of American stauhood. Nor aro wo unmindful of our brcth. of tho Ind(an territory.

Appre ciating their splendid capacity and wonderful resource and achieve ments, we desire union with thorn in order that jointly we ray build up tho greatest of the wostern states. Wo therefore favor the admission into the federal union of Oklahoma and the Indian territory as a single state. And in viqv of the fact that Oklahoma has a splendid land endowment for its schools, wo favor an adequate provision for tho peoplo of the Indian territory, either in lands or other resources, so that both territories may be placed upon terms of equality in the maintenance and support of their common schools. Resolved, 'inat we are unalterably opposed to any encroachment upon the magnificent endowment of our public schools and colleges. And wo recommend that the final disposition of the school and other lands of the territory be left to tho peoplo of tho sovereign state in constitutional convention assembled.

Resolved, That we condemn tho progont school land board of the territory for itr. harsh, unjust and opprcs. sive adminlstraton ot the school land office, and wo pledge our party to pass a fair and equitable school land law, Just alike to tho lossees and to the people of the territory. Wo favor tho early enactment of a law by tho federal congress granting free homes to tho roaidonts of tho new country, and we donounco tho actfo'ri of Delegate Flynn in oxoludlng that country from tho recent frco homos net Wo favor immediate statehood along the linos laid down in this platform. In ardor that we may oscapo tho curse of corpet-bng govornmonc and in order that tho people may substitute honosty, economy and offlclonoy for extravagance, diihonosty nnd spoliation of the public, under which tho torritoiy has been robbed and tho unfortunate Insane mlstroatod In order to benefit a few favored Republican gratters, and under which tho people of the new country have beon burdon-ed with extravagance and extortion in tho administration of their local affairs.

"Wo condemn the unpatriotic and unjust attempt of Dologato Flynn to do-privo tho now counties of Caddo, Comanche and Rlowa from participation in the constitutional convention Oklahoma in tho ovent of its admis sion to statehood. We favor an organized county government for tho people of tho Osage nation. Ve ondorso tho separate soho'61 law enacted by tho last legislative as-ssembly, In so far as it covers tho ground, and upon the creation of a new state we demand that tho peoplo thereof shall be permitted to devlso and fashion their own oducational system without fodoral intorforonco; and although we favor equal educational prlvllogee and facilities for white and coloied children, wo are opposed to mixed schools. We demand a just and equltablo legislative apportionment moasuro at the bands of tho present congress, to the end that the thousands of voters in the wostern and southwestern counties of the tormory may have proper end adequate representation in the coming legislative sosslon. I fne Democratic party pledges Itself to promote in every way tho application of the system of primary election, for tho nomination of candidates and the settling of party principle and wo avor the passage of a sultaolo primary election law tor tho logal introduce tlou of such a system Into this territory.

Believing as we do that tho legiti mate aim of government is to pro mote the greatest good of the people, we favor public ownership of municipal utilities. We renew our aliegianco to the principles of the Democratic party as enunciated in Ite national platform adopted at Kansas City in 1900. And upen the foregoing declaration of principles, we invite tho support of toll good citizens fthd phsiblo business men in the approaching election Carl Be Uone in Guthrie.
