David Mainse, a well-known religious tele-caster, will preach this Sunday at City View Pentecostal Church at both 11 a.m.

and 7 p.m. His television show 'Crossroads' is carried on 90 stations across Canada. Church Herb Gillis, a film distributing executive who was involved i nmarketing of the movie. Love Story, agrees there is a growing, major demand for the type of movie that upholds the value of character and faith. While Gateway's objective is not to make money, since it is a non-profit organization, it recognizes that its films must attract audiences, or theatres won't show them.

But the initial offering, The Cross and the Switchblade, has demonstrated such religiously-motivated films can win audiences. Alcoholic theme The film, based on the true story of country preacher David Wilkerson who became an evangelist among youth gang members and drug addicts in New York City's ghettoes, is to be kept on the movie circuit at least another year. At the same time. Gate way is releasing The Late Liz which tells tr.e true story of a wealthy girl's decline into alcoholism and her recovery through conversion to Christianity. Mr.

Curtis says the reception of these films "has attracted the confidence of several producers, and Gateway Films now has several new films under consideration." Gateway was formed early this year and obtained the rights to The Cross and the Switchblade, after its original producer and distributor, Dick Ross Associates, went bankrupt. Mr. Curtis says the firm, whose aim also was to turn out quality movies with a message, had invested too heavily in a second movie before realizing the potential proceeds from the first. Consequently, the American Baptist Convention, a major investor in the Ross enterprise, took it over. 5 A if I I if-; 1 it 'j Greenbelt Baptist Church announced that Carl G.

Spence has recently arrived in Ottawa to assume his duties as pastor of this new congregation serving Beacon Hill, Blackburn Hamlet and surrounding areas. Mr. Spence, formerly of Ottawa, has studied at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Bryan College, Tennessee where he graduated with his Arts degree, and Wheaton Graduate School, where he received his A. in New Testament literature. Since that time Mr.

Spence has served as youth pastor in two churches, first at Bethel Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, and then at First Baptist Church in Lincoln Park. Detroit, where he has been for the past two years. This "Partnership in the Gospel" program has a distinctly modern flavor. It has been in the planning since June, with an active committee headed by John A.

Mac-Farlane as general chairman and William S. Burnside as deputy chairman. At the morning service Sunday, the seven team captains and the more than 60 visitors will be dedicated. They will then fan out over the city to call on every St Andrew's household. These visitors have participated in two training sessions at the church.

At one of these Alex Deans of Toronto, assistant secretary of the board of budget and stewardship, Presbyterian Church in Canada, spoke on the wider work of the church in Canada and overseas. The congregation has been made aware of the scope and purpose of this campagn by three mailings, spaced out over, the last 10 days. The visitors will carry with them a commitment card for each member. On this card each can check off his talents, from dramatics to typing or public relations, and his resources things as practical as owning a station wagon, carpenters' tools, or a country property. He can also report on his involvement in church groups.

In explaining the move by the 1.5 million-member American Baptist Convention, Rev.
