Demandg Helicopter The plane took off five hours after landing here and headed toward Oakland, where the hijacker had ordered a helicopter to stand by. The hostages were identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as Jim Willienw and Lloyd G. Turner, a California Highway Patrol officer in plainclothes and armed with a revolver.

The FA A said both men -were volunteers and the air pirate did not know Turner was a law enforcement officer. The hijacker, described as 5-foot-9 and about 160 pounds, first released 30 passengers and a stewardess before negotiations started on the ransom. "A Lot of Jokes" By JEFFREY ANTE VI -Washington, July 6 (News Bureau) Chief Justice Warren E. Burger put a freeze today on "the disputed Democratic National Convention delegates from California and Illinois, in order to give the Supreme Court time to note to the pilot which said the ransom "would be distributed to two organizations involved in the Mideast crisis." The note added: "Recent actions by the Airline Pilots Association and Secretary of Transportation have caused consternation in our organization and we are forced to take prompt action." The Airline Pilots Association last month conducted a one-day work stoppage in some areas to protest the wave of air piracy around the world and demand tighter security measures.

California and Illinois forces opposing the nomination of Sen. George McGovern had asked the Supreme Court earlier today to convene a rare session and reverse the lower court's decision depriving them of their seats. That meant that Spassky, who smiled slightly as he opened his hand, will have the first move in the first game Tuesday of the 24-game world championship match. The draw was made as Fischer, the American challenger, and Spassky, the Soviet world champion, stood face to face on the stage of the Laugardalshoell, Reykjavik's sport exhibition palace. But it was done in the same manner as park bench chess players, with Spassky taking a black pawn and r. white pawn in each hand, juggling them behind his back and extending his closed hands to Fischer. Fischer, the 29-year-old temperamental chess genius from Brooklyn, and Spassky, 35, of Moscow, met for the draw after Fischer sent a handwritten letter of apology to Spassky this morning.

Slater's doubling of the original purse put up by the Icelanders will give the winner and the loser $93,750 the biggest purse ever for a championship chess match.

Spassky, showing the strain of waiting out the pregame gambits, requested a delay of his own to repair his frayed nerves. Lothar Schmidt of West Germany, the head referee, granted the request and set the first game for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Laugardalshoell.
