He went on to give detailed statements concerning the murders of Barksey, Jenner, and Scholes, and the rapes of Winters and Jennings. On Jan. 18, 1980 Magee stood trial for the murders of Barksey and Jenner. Once again he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

He is at present confined to the Mental Health Centre at vehicle, possibly an Oldsmobile, enter the Jenner driveway on the day of the murder. She said the occupant of the vehicle, a white male with dark collar-length hair, had been at the Jenner door three or four minutes before entering the house. Police conducted thousands of interviews in the Jenner investigation. One man, Chris Magee, loosely fitted the description given the Jenners' neighbor. He knew Mrs.

Jenner, and left for dead. Miraculously, she survived the attack. The body of 15-year-old Susan Lynne Scholes was discovered in a farm field at Forest, Ont. by a youth driving a tractor. She had been raped and stabbed in the throat.

OPP inquiries soon uncovered that the suspect truck, a 1975 Ford was owned by John Grinsven, a Stra-throy-based dealer in dead stock. On the day of Susan's murder the as well as Judy Barksey. His father owned a light colored Olds-mobile. Magee remained a suspect, but there was nothing of a definite nature to label him a killer. Sylvia Holly Jennings, 19, was hitchhiking in London.

She accepted a lift. She was driven well past her destination to an abandoned side road near Mount Brydges, where she was raped, beaten with a Coke bottle over the head, truck was operated by none other than Chris Magee, the suspect in the Barksey and Jenner murders. Taken to the OPP detachment in Forest, Magee admitted picking up Susan, but claimed that he dropped her off and continued on his way. Investigating officers found out that Magee's truck was usually outfitted with a filleting knife used in his work with dead animals. When the truck was searched the knife was missing.

On Oct. 21, 1977, Chris Magee was arrested and stood trial for the murder of Susan Scholes. At no time did he confess to the crime. He was judged to be not guilty by reason of insanity. Magee, always suspected of committing the other crimes in the area, was re-interviewed on May 11, 1979, by two police1 constables.

At first Magee told them nothing but later he blurted out a confession. Strathroy home to find his wife lying dead on the kitchen floor. She was making her way home that night in Strathroy, when she was attacked.

Later, her assailant was to describe the incident in his own words, "It was late at night. I was at home watching a hockey game and I decided to go uptown to get some raffle tickets on the game at the News Depot, After getting the tickets I started for home. I noticed a girl walking on the street in front of me. I started fantasizing sex with her and I was trying to build up nerve to approach her. As we walked along I finally built up enough cour-; age, or else my sick-' ness was coming to a head, that I grabbed her after we crossed, over the tracks.

I told her what I wanted. She struggled and refused. I grabbed her by the throat. She goes down, then I panicked, took my jackknife out and stabbed her in the throat. I got scared and I went into her purse and took some money." Judy Barksey's monster cleaned off his bloody jackknife in a mud puddle and went home to his wife.

The body was found next morning but despite an extensive investigation, detectives were unsuccessful in tracing the killer. A year and three months later Rosalie Winters, 18, was raped and left alive in Alexandria Park. On Oct. 20, 1975, exactly four months after that attack 24-year-old Denys Jenner arrived home from work and entered his wf Simpsons Ottawa closes its doors on Saturday, January 29, 1983.
