He figures he spends about $10 to $15 a week on lottery tickets.

"I hate to think of the amount I've spent on the lotteries but this makes up for it, I guess," said Larocque, a bachelor. While the $l-million grand prize would be nice to win, Larocque said he'd be satisfied with the $10,000 prize. "It comes right in time for Christmas." Storie, 31, who purchased her ticket in Lanark, said she doesn't usually buy Match 3 Sweeps tickets because they are more expensive than other tickets. However, a friend had just won a free ticket, so she decided to take a chance. "I was totally shocked when I scratched it and won," she said.

A divorced mother of three, Storie said the $10,000 will "come in handy." She has no immediate plans for the money, except to put it in the bank. Although she's looking forward to the trip to Toronto, she isn't all, that concerned about more winnings. "I'm happy with what I've won now," she said. Dubois couldn't be reached for comment. Citizen staff Three area residents will travel to Toronto next week for a chance to win up to $1 million.

But even if they don't win at the "Million Dollar Sweeps" show, they'll still come home with at least $10,000. By purchasing winning Match 3 Sweeps tickets, Peter Larocque of Nepean, Sylvia Dubois of Orleans and Donna Storie of Renfrew became finalists in the televised draw. The lottery corporation is paying their travelling and accommodation expenses. To date, 40 finalists have been selected to attend the Dec. 17 show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Each will be assigned a number, which may be drawn during the evening for winnings of $1 million, $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000. If a finalist doesn't win, he or she will receive $10,000. Larocque, 24, said he was "shocked" to find he had a prize ticket when he purchased it at Andy's Variety on Meadowlands Drive in September. About 11:40 a.m., a man carrying a paper lunch bag approached a teller at the Bank of Nova Scotia at 433 Bank St. and showed what appeared to be a handgun inside the bag, police said.

He fled with an undisclosed sum and was last seen heading north along Bank Street. Insp. Jim Carroll said that based on the man's description and method of operation, he could be the Satchel Bandit, who is believed responsible for at least 33 Ontario bank robberies, including 10 in Ottawa, over the past two years. Dubbed the Satchel Bandit by Metro Toronto police, the man is known to walk into banks carrying a bag with a handgun inside. The man responsible for Tuesday's robbery appeared to be in his 40s, about six feet, two inches tall, with a fair complexion and light brown hair.
