The main limitation is said to be a ceiling on renovation costs. The decision to accept the government's conditions appar ently was taken Wednesday at an Algonquin board of governors' meeting in Pembroke. Both Carleton and Algonquin are awaiting confirmation by the ministry of colleges and uni versities but it appears likely the deal will go through. This means Algonquin will take up partial occupancy of the St Pat's Echo Drive campus of Carleton University beginning in the fall. St Pat's and Algonquin stu dents will occupy the building jointly while new St Pat's facil ities are being constructed on the main Rideau River campus.

A Carleton spokesman said the university will also ask for a guarantee that it will receive the full amount of $25 million for construction of the new St Pat's facilities.
