Byman, who surged into the lead earlier Sunday with an excellent third-round 66 to overtake second-round leader Seve Balleste-ros of Spain, shot a fourth-round 71 for a 275. LINKOPING, Sweden (AP) American Bob Byman held off a fourth-round charge by British veteran Sam Torrance to win the $120,000 Scandinavian Enterprise Open golf championship Sunday by Head for Mont Ste Marie Resort in the Gatineau Hills, where beautiful scenery and first class luxury make golfing on our 18-hole architecturally designed course a whole new experience and you'll be pampered in our award-winning hotel. "TEE IT UP" GOLF SPECIAL Three days and two nights, Sunday to Thursday, in the Canadian college draft, retired Riders maintain his CFL rights. "All he needs is more playing experience," said offensive line coach Vince Gargano.

"He has played only three years of college ball and we'd like to see him work on his mobility. He has excellent initial contact but sometimes has difficulty staying with his block but Kevin has a future. That extra year of college should make a big difference." Riders also dropped import running back Derrek Peels while quarterback Kevin Starkey was placed on the four-man move list. Since Riders have an open spot on the move list they still can make room for Holland or Skip Walker without cutting a player. Holland was scheduled to arrive from Calgary Sunday and he'll work out with the Riders when they resume practising Tuesday.

"I spoke to him Saturday and he's eager to come," said Brancato. "Jack Gotta (Calgary head coach) tells me he's a class guy just like Kelvin Kirk." Riders plucked Kirk from Calgary early last season and he went on to become Ottawa's most valuable player. If Holland is activated then an import offensive lineman would be shifted to the move list. However, Riders still haven't been able to locate Walker, who has been with Montreal the last three years. He's entering the option year of his contract and apparently wants out of the CFL to try out with Cleveland.

"That's what we hear," said Riders' general manager Jake Dunlap. "He has to honor the option year of his contract and we could suspend him if he doesn't report. But, before we do anything we want to talk to him." plained Brancato. "Those guys are definitely in our plans." Riders also released veteran wide receiver Gary Cook and Canadian defensive tackle Ian Ward for the purpose of being placed on the move list. Riders are convinced that Ward could develop into a first rate tackle.

However, Riders didn't find room for veteran import defensive lineman Ron Simmons, who was an Ail-American at Florida State three years ago. Although Simmons showed well in the drills, he couldn't match Dulin in games. Just as the Cleveland Browns complained about last season after making Simmons their fourth-round pick, the 6-1, 250-pounder has difficulty sheading blocks. He tries to bully blockers out of the way and gets tied up. "His biggest problem is that he doesn't take advantage of his speed," said defensive line coach Joe Pascale.

"To be fair with Ron he was trying to learn a new position (end). In college he was a noseguard where all he had to worry about was to take people on and stuff the run. As a pro, I feel he must play outside but he's still a good player who got caught in the numbers same." Riders also dropped Canadian free safety Terry Cahill and import linebacker Ken Banks, however, both will be asked back on 14-day trials. With Cahill gone, Al Dosant will back up Glenn Cook for the league opener at free safety and Randy Fournier is the extra linebacker. Offensive lineman Kevin Dalliday retired and he is expected to return to Carleton University where he has eligibility remaining.

Since Dalliday, Ottawa's territorial exemption By Tom Casey Citizen staff writer Rough Riders cut down to 34 players Saturday but don't count on the same 34 to be around for too long. In fact, there could be some changes for Ottawa's Canadian Football League opener next Sunday at Lansdowne Park against the Grey Cup champion Edmonton Eskimos. That is if running back Skip Walker and wide receiver John Holland, both acquired officially Saturday in trades, fit into the Ottawa scheme. However, Brancato appears determined to stick with his original ratio of eight imports on defence and seven on offence. The roster he declared Saturday sees two new imports defensive tackle Gary Dulin and quarterback Chris Isaac and 12 of the 15 Americans who played in last year's Grey Cup game.

(Deep back Ricky Barden is the other import.) Back up slotback Greg Clarke is the only rookie Canadian as IS of the 19 native players Brancato listed participated in the Grey Cup. To get down to the limit of 34, Riders cut 10 players, five of them veterans, who will find their way back on the roster soon. In what amounts to little more than the shuffling of paperwork, the cuts included import deep back Larry Brune, slotback Pat Stoqua and running back Maurice Doyle. All three are considered free agents in the eyes of the CFL as Brancato slipped them through waivers unclaimed because they're injured. "They're still being paid by the club because they're injured and once they're ready to play we'll get them back in the lineup," ex includes unlimited golf, two buffet breakfasts and candle light dinners, club storage, a bucket of practice balls, and use of our fitness centre sl 11 per person, double occupancy (gratuity extra).
