The FOX plan for fall: Move 'X-files' and 'Married' BY ROBERT BIANCO Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Next year, Agent Mulder works on Sundays. In a schedule perhaps best described as "passive aggressive," Fox is making major changes at the beginning and end of the week including moving its two best-established hits, X-Files and With Children while leaving its mid-week line-up untouched. In all. the network is only adding five new shows, two on Monday, and one each for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In what may be the riskiest move made by any network so far, Fox will take X-Files out of its comfortable Friday slot and send it to Sunday at 9, where it will run against the network movies.

That leaves Friday open for Files creator Chris Carter's newest series, Millennium, a drama about a mysterious underground task force battling evil at the end of the century. The X-Files move sends Married With Children from Sunday, where it has aired since its 1987 premiere, to 9 p.m. Saturday Married will be followed by Come Fly With Me, a sitcom about a struggling blue- collar family who live next door to a Martha Stewart-type housewife The other new Fox series are LA. Firefighters, an ER-m-a- firehouse drama that arrives June 3 for a summer preview: Party Girl, a film-to-TV'adapta- tion starring the Brady Bunch's Christine Taylor as a modern Holly Gohghtly; and Lush Life, a sitcom from Living Single's Yyvette Lee Bowser about a female odd couple (Lori Petty and Karyn Parsons) sharing an apartment in New York. Shows in development that Fox did not pick up include dramas from Francis Ford Coppolla and John Woo, and sitcoms starring Julia Sweeney and Pauly Shore Cancelled shows include The Crew, Strange Luck, Profit, Kindred- The Embraced, The Show.

Local Heroes, Space: Above and Beyond, and, unfortunately, Partners. Don't count Partners out just yet, however Though no deal has been set, producer Jeff Strauss says there's still a possibility the show will turn up on another network. "There certainly are no guarantees or promises," says Strauss, "but we're hopeful." Distributed by Scripps Howard News Service NEWS TIPS? Next time you pass a garage sale and come across an old Commodore 64 or Atari 2600 with a few titles priced to go at $5,, buy it Thaf right, because, according to Williams Entertainment's logic, that $5 investment should be worth a 10-fold return.

These video relic collections are popping up everywhere. Not even the Play Station is safe, thanks to Williams' latest release, Arcade's Greatest Hits. This collection of six titles includes Robotron 2084, Bubbles, Defender 1 and 2, Joust and the surprisingly addictive Sinistar It doesn't take a genius to figure out that these games aren't quite up to par with today's software. Graphically, this collection is a joke. Smart consumers don't buy today's hottest system to play yesteryear's dung.

Hit mute when playing these elderly titles. The blips and bleeps will drive you insane. Gameplay for most of these selections is very minimal. Older games just can't offer the playa- bihty options that we've become spoiled with. Granted, these old coots of video game heritage helped, developers get to the point where they are today, but their 15 minutes of fame is long over.

This is a next generation platform -let's keep it that way. I'm starting a video graveyard, and every sad assortment like this that comes down the tubes will have some place to finally get some much needed rest. If you are one of the few who care for these moldy titles, that's your business, but you're getting gouged on this deal.
