KINGMAN, ARIZONA; APRIL 28, 1906. Mines of the County The German-American mill is pounding away night and day and it is reported that the cleanups are exceeding expectation. "Williams and Pitman are at work on mining claims in the north part of Cedar mining district. The mines are said to carry values in silver and copper. S.

C. Bagg was called to Los Angeles last Sunday evening on important business. He will return in about ten days to resume deelopment of his Jennie mine, in Weaver district. Charles Metcalfe has purchased the interest of Thomas Tyrrell in the Great Eastern mining claim, in Walla-j)ai mountain. It is his intention to develop this property and put it on a producing basis at once.

The mine carries good values in lead, gold and silver and the vein is of great width and extent. A. L. McKesson has opened up a big body of ore in his mining claim, one mile east of Hancock water tank. He has been at work on the property the past month and believes he has a good thing.

The ore shows much free gold. A number of locations have been made in the vicinity of the And the past few days and considerable work has been mapped out. O. D. M.

Gaddis, accompanied by F. C. Hooper and B. F. Graham, are looking over the mines of the Union Pass section.

They will visit the Monarch, Tragedy and other groups of mines during their rounds through the district. The latter gentlemen are looking for an investment in the mines of the county. Yesterday Frank I. Todd received final payment for his Roadside mines, in the Union Pass section, from the San Diego mining company. The actual price is unknown, but it is known to be well up in the thousands.

Mr. Todd will visit his old stamping ground over in Yavapai county next week and then return to this county, where he will engage in mining. A letter was received in Kingman one day this week from W. H. Mack to the effect that his mines are looking better with every foot of recent work has added thousands of dollars to the valuation of the property.

The mines are among the richest of the Bill Williams Fork properties, being some distance down the river below the mouth of that stream. Mr. Mack has done an immense amount of work on the mines and believes he has the richest copper properties in the territory. R. P.

Wheeler and others have lo cated a number of mining claims in the vicinity of the old McCracken mine that give great promise of devel oping into producers. The ore is grey carbonate carrying G8 per cent lead and a small amount of gold and silver. The new locations are on the course of the old McCracken vein and may be a part of it. The owners are preparing to do considerable work on the claims and expect to make shipments of the ore to the smelter. Ben Shaver has taken the contract to sink two shafts on the Victor and Virgin mines to a depth of 100 feet each.

He is working three shifts on the properties and making good head way. The mines are looking good and it is expected that the present work will open up great ore bodies. Mr. Shaver also has contracts to crosscut the veins at the bottom of the shafts and drift 200 feet each way. Col Thomas Ewing has charge of the work for the company owning the property, in which he is largely interested.

Charles Gracey, superintendent of the Joseph Wharton mines at Eldor ado Canyon, is in Kingman. Mr. Gracey reports great activity in the mines of that section and believes the camp will become one of the greatest producers in Nevada. Several im portant mining discoveries have been made in the country adjacent to the Techaticup mines and the mines taken over by capitalists, experienced mining men being placed in charge of the development. Eighteen miles east of Las Vegas and forty miles from the Canyon a new district has been opened up that is proving wonderfully rich in minerals.

A number of companies are already operating in the camp with good results. Don. Catlin is working a force of men on his properties and is said to be opening up big bodies of ore. George W. Mark, U.

S. assayer at St. Louis, has notified the Miner that the express companies have given a special rate on bullion to that place from any point in Arizona until further notice. The mint at San Francisco will be out of service for some time and all bullion can be shipped to the St. Louis assay olfice, where it will be as sayed and paid for upon receipt.

Mohave county bullion producers ought to make a shipment of bullion to the St. Louis office, as it would be commented upon at length by St. Louis papers to the benefit of our mines. Frank Hare, T. M.

Greenhow, J. P. Ryan and J. W. Cornelius have locat ed the old Belle McGilroy mine, in the Cedar district, and are at work on it taking out ore.

A drift has been run on the 150 level of the mine and ore running gold has been opened up. Two tons of this ore has been packed to the San Francio mill, where it will be treated. The shaft on this mine is down 200 feet and an average sample of the ore from top to bottom gave a result of over in gold. The owners have arranged to place a whim on the mine and will sink still farther. The property is one of the best in that section.

Mr. Clymo, associated with Charles M. Shannon in mining in the territory and Mexico, passed through Yucca one day last week on his way to examine the mines of Charles E. Pricr, mining properties on Bill Williams Fork. He expected to be gone about ten days.

Mr. Clymo stated that the mines under management of H. S. MacKay, toward the coast from Her-mosilla, Sonora, were the richest de posits of gold bearing gravel he ever examined. The deposit dipped away at an incline of 100 feet to the mile and in a stretch of .5,000 feet it in creased in width from four feet to 21 feet in thickness and gave an average value of to the ton.

A 100 stamp mill has just been completed at the mines to handle the ore and water is being brought in from a distance of twenty miles. It is expected that bullion will be turned out from this mill in a way that will open the eyes of the public. The area covered by the deposit of conglomerate is unknown, but so far it has been tested a distance of more than a mile. S. C.

Bagg, who has been cleaning out the old Jennie mine on the Arizona side of the river at Eldorado Canyon, has completed the work and will be gin the development of the property at once. The shaft, which was filled up, was found to be 110 feet deep, with a vein five feet wide in a porphyry- granite contact between well defined walls. Several drifts from 20 to 100 feet in length were cleaned out and timbered where necessary. The ore body ranges from two to live feet in width. Much of the ore is fabulously rich.

Some of the ore remaining in the stones assayed 2 ounces gold and 1200 ounces silver per ton, while hun dreds of tons will run zvi to oos per ton. A contract has been let to sink a new shaft 200 feet west of the old shaft. Twenty-five sacks of ore have been shipped to the Needles smelter and if results a.e satisfactory arrangements will be made to ship regularly while development is progressing. Work is progressing satisfactorily on the St. Louis mine, at Cerbat.

Good ore is being extracted ana pre pared for shipment to the smelter. Cures Coughs and Colds. Mrs. C.
