The first storm of the season, though moist, neg lected to be chilly or overly windy. As a result, there has been no great influx of fresh birds down from the key Klamath Basin refuges.

Yesterday, Tule Lake was overcast, faintly breezy, with a few Inter mittent showers. And there were still between 1,750, 000 and 2,000,000 ducks and Rischer Stopi sFoe In 11th By EDDIE MULLER SAN JOSE-Roeer "The "Dodger" Rischer, veter an Oaklander, retained his California heavyweight title by disposing of Willie Rich ardson in the 11th round on a TKO in Civic Auditorium last nipht. This was supposed to be Richardson big chance. He muffed it by the pro-verbial mile. At the outset of the 11th he nailed Rischer with a left hook that staggered the vet eran and sent him into the ropes.

(When his follow up punches failed to inflict fur theur damage Willie was through for the night. He tripped and fell to the canvas and when referee Frankie Carter got him back on his pins Willie had no fight left in him. END OF ROAD Rischer rushed him to the ropes and was belaboring with an assortment of punch-cs when Carter decided Willie" had come to the road's end. The time was 1:24. Richardson again blew what appeared to be a golden opportunity in the sixth round.

He gave Roger a lathering, nailing him with solid hooks and crosses and otherwise treating Rischer to a sound thumping. That was the second and last round that Willie won. For the most part he played a waiting game, seldom taking chances and letting Rischer toy with him at long range. Near the end of the 10th Richardson had a slight lump under his right eye. It appeared at this time that he might call if off.

He went into the next session, which was the windup for him. OFFICIAL SCORING The officials scored it through the 10th round, Carter 6-2, judge Bob Mitchel 7-2, judge Johnny Lotsy 8-2, all of course in Rischer's favor. This writer had it 7-3. Rischer weighed 197, Richardson 195. Gross receipts were $2,777.

Romeo Mendcz defeated Nate Collins in a six round seml-windup. The best looking fighter in the preliminaries was Henry Aldrich who outpointed veteran Dave Reed in a six rounder. Frank Niblett and Willie Turner turned in an action packed six rounder which was called a draw. Bay Area Golf LINCOLN Medal Play Mrs. N.

In fact, biologist Ed O'Ncll at Tule figured that hunger might drive the northern birds south before the weather does. The prolonged sitting by fowl on the northeastern California refuges is depleting the refuges' food supply, and when the ducks get hungry, they swiftly head this way.

Best shooting report for the weekend came from District 10 north of Marys-ville, where big bird limits were a cinch. But further south, the Butte Sink, aside from a few key clubs, was spurty and spotty. The Co- ILoM AIR FORCI 3 Wash. 7 Michigan 14 Colo. St.
