UPI WEATHER FOTOCAST Stanley Langendorf Stanley Langendorf, president of the former San Francisco bakery firm, died Sunday in his Nob Hill penthouse after a short illness. He was 92.

Mr. Langendorf had helped build the firm that bore his family's name into one of California's major bakeries, which he headed for decades. Twenty years ago, Langendorf Bakeries became a subsidiary of American Bakeries a national corporation. It now produces bread, rolls, doughnuts, cookies and cakes at bakeries in Oakland, Berkeley, San Jose and Los Angeles. Mr.

Langendorf arrived in San Francisco from Chicago as a boy with parents Bernard and Sarah Langen-. dorf before the turn of the century. In 1895, the family built and operated the first bakery at McAllister and Laguna streets. Mr. Langendorf who had graduated from Wilmerding School of Industrial Arts, helped mechanize the firm and founded additional bakeries in Oakland, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and, finally, San Jose still the largest of the Langendorf bakeries.

Others established in Portland and Seattle were sold later. The original bakery in San Francisco was razed. But for decades, the Langendorf bread trucks, bearing logos designed by Mr. Langendorf, had been familiar sights in San Francisco and elsewhere in the Bay Area. In 1915, Langendorf baked 5,000 loaves of bread daily; by 1930, the number had reached and in 1937 Langendorf, with its L200 employees, claimed to be the largest bakery in California, producing 250,000 loaves daily, 90 million a year.

A relative described Mr. Langendorf life as "very private." He never married, residing at the Mark Hopkins Hotel from 1930 until he moved into his Jones Street penthouse in 1960. In earlier years, he was an active golfer, swimmer and horseback rider. He was president of the American Bakers Association in 1937 and was long active in the national organization, He was proud of having submitted advice to presidents. In 1932, he was among a number of businessmen urging President Franklin D.

Roosevelt to establish federal deposit insurance, which the president did. He published an article, "Idle Men and Idle Money Spell and much later, in 1968, a year his retirement, he took out iull-pagp ads in the Washington Post to declare that lack of Jobs leads to unrest and riots. Mr. Langendorf proposed that public projects be established to provide work for the poor and eliminate welfare payments. In 1964, Mr.

Langendorf soltLhj business to American BakeriesnJbut remained active as a directOFand adviser for many years. tw He is survived by a brotHer Charles, also of San Francisco. Thfere will be no funeral services. Cremation Temperatures Today Santa Oak Rdwd S-F. Roaa Arprt Cty Noon 69 78 67 74 1p.m.

By Tom Hall Examiner staff writer The mail fraud trial of Diamond Heights Village developer George Benny, set for tomorrow, has been stalled again. Benny, accused in a $40 million real estate swindle, wants his trial postponed for four months. He seeks the continuance because he wants to fire attorney Richard Jaeger and substitute Fred Watson and Gregory Stout Watson told US. District Court Judge Robert Peckham that the reason for the change in lawyers stems from a "a breakdown in communications" between Benny and Jaeger. The judge, irritated over Benny's third request to delay the trial, said he would rule on it today: "If I grant a continuance, it will be a relatively short one.

A great deal of time and effort has been put into scheduling this trial. There are 70 potential jurors scheduled to report here Wednesday." Watson said he and Stout have prepared defenses that Jaeger had declined to present, "a sufficient basis to discharge Mr. Jaeger.
