Sunday Examiner Chronicle, February 18, 1973 Travel Pagt 15 Old Nevada Rides Again IS ROOSATKINS WORLD TRAVEL BUREAU ULr-a CLUB UNIVERSE HOLIDAYS will be regular events at Old Nevada, and the "victims" actually buried at Boot Hill. Levinson's not giving away any secrets, but he doesn't seem worried that this activity is going to deplete his staff of trained movie stunt men. thenticity of their western "shoot-outs," and the mock hangings that usually follow.

The thousands of convention delegates who have attended special functions at the existing Bonnie Springs ranch can attest to this. Anyway, these activities "ticker" telegraph across town. Even the funeral parlor and adjacent "boot hill" in Old Nevada will work, to a degree. One thing the Levinsons take great pride in is the au WORLD TRAVEL BUREAU GIVES V0U THE BEST TRAVEL SERVICE-JET. Take in the Monalisa at the Louvre Jind the night life on the Left Bank. But, why stay in Paris There's a France beyond Paris just waiting for you to come visit. Villages and towns steeped in art and history. Vineyards castles, Alpine spas and beaches made famous by bikinis. And the best way to get there is by train.

Where in France will the French trains take you? Almost Only four hours separate Paris from Strasbourg. But be careful. Once you've walked its medievel streets, lined by timbered houses, you may never want to return to the glass and concrete of the modern city. Just two and one-half hours from Paris is Dijon. One of the renowned gastronomic capitals of the world.

Buy an extra bottle of white wine there with the money you've saved eating cafeteria-style on the train. French trains are known throughout the world for their comfort, speed and punctuality. They're also known as a great place to get to know the people. It's easy to start a conversation in the relaxed atmosphere of a train. Even if you've barely passed second-year French, or German or Spanish.

For trains are really the Continental way of travel. You can eat on a French train. A full-scale restoration of the "Nevada that was" is now under construction near Las Vegas, and is due to open to the public in early summer of this year. Old Nevada, as it is called, will answer the age-old question, "What else is there to do in Las Vegas?" Bonnie and Al Levinson are building Old Nevada on the site of the Bonnie Springs Ranch, located in the picturesque Red Rock area, only 20 miles west of the resort city. They are meticulously planning the 45 buildings that will make up the tourist complex after actual structures which stbod during the gold and silver "boom" days 100 years ago.

Some of the buildings survive even now in the famed ghost towns of Nevada. Others are gone, but live still in history and in the memories of the few survivors of that era. But Old Nevada will be no "instant ghost town" built with the skills of Hollywood set makers, according to Levinson. All of the structures in Old Nevada are being built to appear as they did when new. And a great deal of research is being done to assure the accuracy of even the most minute details.

Levinson has accumulated literally thousands of historic pictures and drawings of the old buildings, and has had the cooperation of state agencies in acquiring additional detail. The buildings, however, are being built according to modern codes, and will contain air conditioning, now considered a necessity in the searing Southern Nevada snmmers. One touch of realism, though; there will be no water, except i the restaurants and rest rooms. "Anyone else who needs water can get it from the pump out in front, just like they did in the old said Levinson. Old Nevada is designed as a tourist attraction, of course, but realism will be carried out to an extreme.

There will be a wide variety of shops and services, but Levinson has insisted that they work, and that they be authentic. The Chinese laundry, for instance, will have a Chinese laundryman doing laundry. Levinson has bought a supply of old telephones which are being restored by the telephone company in Las Vegas, and will be connected to an antique switchboard. This will be the only form of communication in Old Nevada, except for a Morse Name- Address. -State.
