'How to Study 9 consultant at Gettysburg Senior High Students, parents and teachers will have an opportunity to hear Richard P.

Gallagher, an educational consultant, in a series of three programs titled "How to Study," set to begin today. Gallagher will speak with Gettysburg high school students during a morning assembly. Parents will have a chance to meet and talk with Gallagher on Nov. 6 from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and the faculty will discuss study habits with him during an in-service program on Nov. 7.

The author of "How to Study" and a study skills expert, Gallagher will speak on the need of clearing the mystery of studying so the student can become independent in studying. "No one ever taught me how to study so I strongly feel the need to help others over this difficult area. With the proper study techniques, I firmly believe the difference between a and an 'A' is 10 quality minutes of work each, night," he says. Parents want their children to succeed and work independently, but no one ever shows them how, Gallagher says. He notes that there are five problem areas; memory methods, reading to remember, note taking, test taking and concentration.

In his talks, Gallagher will offer specific confidence building skills in each of these areas to lead the student to the inescapable conclusion, "I can do it!" "The biggest hassle in a child's life can be school work. As someone who has been in over 700 schools, I have come to the conclusion that once a child knows how to study then the social and extracurricular life of the student can fall into-place," Gallagher says. "I will do everything possible in my remarks to drive home the point that students can succeed if they know what they are doing," he says. rjr (From page 1A) jecting myself to the process. In remarks clearly aimed at these Southerners, Bush said: "It's important to note that among Afro-Americans, black Americans, that the support is very, very strong. That is significant and I think highly important." Senate Republicans and the White House were pursuing a strategy of convincing senators that Hill's testimony produced insufficient evidence and that Thomas deserved the benefit of any doubts. After her lawyers said she Sunday that she had passed a polygraph test, Republicans raised the possibility that she was deluded mentally.

On Monday, Republicans tried to impugn her testimony. Danforth's office released an affidavit from a Washington lawyer who said he had given her a poor evaluation when she worked in private practice.
