Light said Chavez' allegations of "partiality and ineffectiveness directed at law enforcement agencies in Monterey County are unfounded." Investigation Light said the Attorney General investigated the law enforcement agencies at the request of Chavez, head of the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee, which is carrying on picketing and boycotts in an organizing drive against lettuce farms. Chavez charged that law officers were enforcing the law selectively, arresting UFW0C pickets while allowing an anti-UFWOC group to block a driveway on Sept. 5. and prevent trucks from Interharvest, first grower signed by UFWOC, from getting to the fields.

"The agencies cooperated in a most commendable manner to meet the various situations with which they were faced, and conducted themselves at all times in a manner which we found, to be above reproach," Light said. 'Discovered Nothing' "We discovered nothing whatever that would warrant further investigation of the Monterey County district attorney's office or sheriff's department, or the Salinas police department."
