Charter air fare battle on LONDON (Reuter) A British charter company opened up the 1974 Atlantic air-fares battle Monday with an offer of a round-trip ticket between London and Los Angeles for less than $190.

The price list from a company called CPS Travel was one of the first entries in the scramble to get customers for the newly devised concept of advanced booking chargers (ABC). The ABC system started last April. It was intended to supple ment and eventually reprcce the old affinity group char ters. To qualify for an ABC flight, all a passenger has to do is book three months in advance and remain at least 14 days at his destinatimn. The $190 fare is for a so-called 'longstop" ticket, which obliges the traveller to remain at least three months at his destination in the off-season.

The high-season fare London- Los Angeles under the ordinary 14-day rules is about $310 round trip, well below the normal scheduled-flight rates.
