p. ITTED TO MAPA ASYLUM OM Friend Rtcogniied fefartUAU Kan-Pitiable BMBM at Quetav who has been detained in the ward for the insane at the county jail for several days with the hope that his mind might be restored to its normal condition, was examined this morning by a lunacy commisulon consisting of Doctors C. B. Beebe and M. W.

Ward and Judge Gaddis. There seems to be no doubt that his condition has steadily grown worse In the meantime. Before the examination well under way W. J. Baker, an olil friend, was called into the room.

He recognized Mr. Baker but declared to the commission: "Oh, Baker don't know beans!" Then his son, Harry, who only returned home a day or two ago, was also admitted. He knew his boy also and he "Harry is a good boy. I alwaya treated' y0 well, didn't Harry?" these two exceptions he'did not Indicate in any way that he recognized any other persons In the room. The physicians asked him: if he had ever had "any serious spells of sickness.

After indulging in a great deal of jjargon which was Unintelligible to thc-se present, he finally remembered that he once had an attack of brain fever. The physicians also asked him if he has any visions and he 1 described one in which he claimed to have" seen Jesus and Pilate night. He expressed much sympathy for Jesus who appeared to him in forlorn and pitiahle condition. When asked if he hears noises that are unusual, his mood changed from grave to gay and he laughed immoderately as he described something he heard Thursday night. AH his answers and his manner wh'ile un'der examination furnished conclusive evidence that he is insane.

Members of his family had previously expressed the opinion that if he were allowed to go home arid forbidden to come to Woodland he would be all right again In a little while, but the commission evidently thinks otherwise. His case was diagnosed as acute religious mania and as a result of the examination he was committed to the Napa asylum'for the Insane Much sympathy is expressed for the unfortunate man and his family. He has the reputation of having been, when rational, a hard-working, upright man, a good citizen and considerate and affectionate to his family. Addresses to the Farmers, (Continued From First Page.) finally told them he could not take the huiles as he had received information that his partner, instead of forwarding the $1600 by express, as directed, had withdrawn "the whole of their deposit in a Portland bank, and his whereabouts was unknown. To' others he stated that his partner had left him without $10 ready money to his name. Grigsby and Lawson consulted about the mat- ten, and finally decided to attach the mules and force Ashby to take the mules he bid in, at the Woodland sale. This morning Mr. Grigsby learned that Ashoy had canceled the order for the car ordered for Woodland, and ordered one for Dunnigan. Constable Parker, armed with an attachment issued from Justice Lampton's court, left for Dunnigan on the Oregon express.
