On Saturday evening it was necessary to give four performances and even then many were unable to gaJn entrance. Button were hostesses Friday at a linen shower given at the home of Mrs. E. H. Dulton In honor of Miss Mabel Everett. Many of her friends attended to spend one more pleasant afternoon before the young lady departs for her future home, The aflei-noon was spent in guessing conlesta and an auction party, which all the guests heartily enjoyed.

Many costly articles were sold, causing much laughter among those present. The bride-to-bo was the purchaser of the ring. Music was also an important fealure in the afternoon pleasure. Aliont 4 o'clock the guests assembled in the dining room to partake of a delicious luncheon prepared the hostesses. The room was beautifully decorated in red and white.

At each plate was a red place card In form of padlock tied with white rihlfon. Just as the luncheon was finished the lM'i(le-lo-be was presented numerous packages, which when opened disclosed many beautiful hand embroidered and drawn work linen. After many best wishes and much happiness to the future bride the guests departed for their respective homes. A GUEST. Giilnda, February 15.

Amusements. The next attraction at the opera house will be U. C. Glee Club uext Friday evening. Those who attended the big football game oh California field in November were surprised at the showing made by the University of California rooters.

Their songs were one of features of the day. There are a remarkably large number of fine voices In college this year, so many in fact that when the Glee Club held Its' try-outs in August over two hundred applicants sought positions iu the club. Out of this large number only forty of the best voices could be chosen to complete the membership. These voices have been drilled daily by that pastmaster in glee club work, C. R.

Morse, until their ensemble work, their remarkably clean attack and delicate shading are being commented upon by all musical critics around San Francisco. The boys will arrive in this city February 19th, and show that night at the opera house. They are accompanied by Colemau Schwartz, the clever monologtst, Allan Powers in character songs, L. B. Marchant, baritone, C.

An 8 per cent dividend on the capital Invested was declared, also a 2 percent dividend on the amount of each member's purchase for the year. It was reported that the business for the season had been very satisfactory. A. G. Dahler is retained as manager and no changes In the management of the store are anticipated.

After the meeting the members and their wives were banqueted in Odd Fellows' hull. About 175 were seated at the tables and as usual the banquet was an elaborate affair. SOLDIER BALKS DEATH PLOT. It seemed to J. A.
