St. Francis College obtained five buildings on Remsen between Court and Clinton Sts. in Brooklyn's Civic Center in 1960 at a cost of $1,250,000 from the Brooklyn Union Gas Co. When the gas company moved to new quarters in March, 1962, college authorities began extensive renovation and modernization in two of the buildings with completion scheduled for September of this year. But because of the surge in enrollment the program was accelerated and the college was moved in during th inter-term recess.

The main eight-story structure at 180 Remsen St. is all brick and steel. It contains a chapel, an auditorium seating 200 persons, 27 lecture rooms, an electronic visual-aid room, 12 seminar rooms, music room, four conference rooms and administrative and departmental offices. The second building houses a 100,000 volume library, reference areas, language lab, reading rooms and microfilm room. The old buildings on Butler home of the college since 1884, are now used by the science and physical education departments.
