The Ottawa Citizen Ailing Lukenda leads Gee-Gees to 64-51 win over Ravens Vince Lukenda wasn't feeling very well Tuesday night. He had a sore knee and upset stomach. Bob O'Billovich wishes today that the University of Ottawa scoring ace had decided to stay home and recuperate. Lukenda clicked for 18 points and snared 19 rebounds', a season's high, to lead George Potvin's Gee-Gees to a 64-51 Ontario Universities Athletic Association basketball victory over Carleton Ravens at the Ravens Nest last night. It was the second straight of cage triumph over the Ravens who, for over a decade, wouldn't let the Gee-Gees even catch a sniff of victory when the two clubs met.

Last nighfs game was the annual Knights of Pythias Muscular Dystrophy charity game and was well-attended. "Neither team was particularly sharp," Potvin admitted after the game. "Both scored poorly from the floor but the defences were brilliant." It was at the backboards and on the foul line where the Gee-Gees proved particularly effective. They out-rebounded Ravens 72-54 and clicked on 20 of 29 foul shots. Ravens were good on 15 of 23.

After jumping into a 33-24 halftime lead, the Gee-Gees appeared on the verge of crumbling until sparsely used Lome Lennox came off the bench to ignite the Ottawa after-burners and spark the garnet and grey to the victor'. Lennox netted only five points but his ball control was an inspiration to the Gee-Gees. Meiv Sabey registered 17 Ottawa points while Hugh Reid with 17 and Lome Bowles with 15 were the leading Carleton marksmen. Sillman winner, Bassett second Page 24 Feb. 9, 1S72 ppi J.
