Inr T.nl anything if I can by my own observations. They began yesterday at a late breakfast in the Polo Lounge of' the Beverlv Hills Hotel and continued through the day. I figured that if Mr. Overmyer is threatening to iMTtmie an influential force for better or worse in San Francisco television, I should Know more about him for the enlightenment andor protection of readers. He packs considerable weight monetarily and physically.

He is a large handsome fellow with dark-rimmed glasses, short -cropped hair and a very attractive wife, Shirley. They have four children Barbara, Elizabeth, John, Edward whose initials may become nationally noteworthy, particularly two-year-old Edward's. I hope. Little Edward's full name is Edward Manning Overmyer and from his initials come Channel 20's new call letters -KEMO. I ASKED HIS MOTHER if Edward might be prevailed upon to fly to California and christen the station with a bottle of milk.

She conceded all things are possible in the Overmyer menage. Her initials are SCO. They couldn't be used in San Francisco because there already is a KSCO (Santa Cruz Radio) on the air. Mrs. Overmyer's namesake station will be on one of frequencies: YDCO, Cincinnati.

Iig Dan is a comparative newcomer to television but he is moving in rapidly. WDIIO, Toledo, is on the air with his own initials. Others soon due to be activated pending FCC approval of the call letters will be UECO, Pittsburgh, for daughter Elizabeth; HIJ.MO, Atlanta, for daughter liarbara; and KIDO. Houston, for son John. That accounts for six stations, there are six members of the family.

Overmyer has an application pending for a seventh station in Dallas. I forgot lo ask whether it will remain nameless pending the arrival of a seventh member of the family. Meanwhile, San Francisco is assuitxi of the KEMO call letters, lhanks to the family's youngest Edward Manning Overmyer. Former majority owner Sherrill Corwin had intended to call the station KBAY-TV but in the race for a name, a 2 year old boy beat out the bay. MK.

OVEIt.MYEK, the owner of a non-existent San Francisco television station, is also the owner of a non-existent television network, the Overmyer Network (ON), which he hopes lo launch April 3, coincidental with the creation of KEMO-TV, San Francisco. He is here for five days working out extensive plans with his network president, Oliver E. Treyz, former president of the ABC-TV network. The Los Angeles outlet for the network will be big KHJ-TV, Channel 9. The San Francisco outlet, of course, will be KEMO-TV.

Overmyer told me that the KEMO antenna will he on San Bruno mountain through a construction arrangement with the Crocker Land Company. This means he will not wait for possible future construction of ABC's proposed tall tower on Mt. Sutro. He wants his antenna now. Will channel 20's ultra high frequency afford satisfactory viewing in San Francisco? Overmyer thinks he can lick the problem with enormous power (eventually million watts) and "translators" to boost his signal from hill to hill.
