Watson, Led S.F. Vet Groups Funeral services for George Villiam Watson, active in veterans affairs here, will be onight at 8 o'clock at the daneely-Matthews Chapel, Divisadero and 'Farrell Sts. Mr. Watson died at his nome, 1478 39th Monday Ifter a lengthy illness. He vas 65.

He was past state and naIonal commander-in-chief of he National American Vettrans, founder and past comnander of Sergeant Charles I. Gavin Post 9626 of the Vettrans of Foreign Wars, past commander and organaizer of he Veterans of World War I Parracks 68 and a life memyer of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3. He was also past commander of Mission Post 347 of the American Legion and recipient of numerous Legion and VFW citations for mempership activities. For the past 16 years Mr. Watson was an accountant employed by the Municipal Railway.

He was a native of Dakland and saw active duty in Europe in World War I as a sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Violet. Mrs. Dahlie Loeb, of Old S. F.

Family Mrs. Dahlia H. Loeb, member of a prominent pioneer San Francisco family, died in New York City on Friday, it was learned here yesterday. Mrs. Loeb, who was born here in 1868, was the mother of Gerald M.

Loeb, millionaire broker and senior partner in the firm of E. F. Hutton Company. Mr. Loeb, who graduated from Lowell High School, has lived in New York and Connecticut since 1923.

His book, "Battle for Investment Survival," has been a best-seller for years in financial circles. Mrs. Loeb's father was one of the 49ers, who walked across the Isthmus of Panama with Flood, Mackay and Fair. Memorial services will be held here for Mrs. Loeb in August.

Her ashes will be buried in the family plot in the Home of Peace Cemetery in San Bruno. CLAUDE M. BAKER Funeral services will be held Friday for Claude M. Baker, long time international president and vice president of the International Typographical Union and former president of the ITU Local 21 here, Mr. Baker, 70, died Monday at the Union Printers Home at Colorado Springs, Colo.

He had been flown to Colorado from here after suffering a stroke in June. Born in Macon, Mr. Baker joined ITU Local 8 in Kansas City in 1913. During the First World War he served as an artilleryman in the battery captained by former President Harry Truman. The two remained friends.

Mr. Baker, nationally known as a standard-setting union leader in the stormy 30's, served as president of Local 21 from 1926-31 and again from 1945-55, and International ITU vice president 1932-38, then president from 1938-44. He is survived by his wife, Ida, of Berkeley; a daughter, Mrs. W. Struven, San Carlos; and a brother, Cecil, of Kansas City.

Services will be at 10:45 a. m. Friday at the Reilly Co. Chapel, 29th St. and Dolores, with burial at Golden Gate National Cemetery.

2 Bookies Draw Fines A pair of bookies were fined by Federal Judge William T. Sweigert here yesterday for failing to pay Government gambling taxes. Julius "Whitey" Kondrat, 42, of South San Francisco, had pleaded guilty of operating as a bookie as a sideline to his valet service operation at a hotel here. Judge Sweigert, noting it had been a small operation and that Kondrat had been an individual operator, fined him $500. July 10, (AP) Jules Eckert Goodman, 85, whose play "The Man Who Came Back" played for eight years on Broadway beginning in 1916, died Tuesday. Goodman also had three plays running on in Broadway at the same time 1908- "The Test," "The Man Who Stood Still," and "The Right to Live." The co-author with the late Montague Glass of the series of plays about the comic characters Potash and Perlmutter, Goodman much later collaborated with his son, Jules Eckert Goodman on his last Broadway play, "Many Mansions," produced in 1937. A native of Gervais, Goodman was a magazine writer, editor and critic before turning to playwriting. His plays included "Chains," "The Trap," "Just Outside the Door," "The Great Romancer," and "The Man Who Played God." He would have been 64 Friday.

An editorial worker on the News Call Bulletin and its predecessor, the Call-Bulletin, for nearly 25 years, Mr. Jay also was previously a copy editor for the Chronicle and financial reporter for the Los Angeles Examiner. LOVED HAWAII His newspaper work in Hawail, however, was his fondest memory. He loved Hawaii and expressed it three years ago in a book, "Hawaiian. Oddities." Born in Tacoma, July 13, 1898, he was a pioneer member of the American Newspaper Guild and active in its work either as an officer or a spokesman for the membership.

Frances Minton, the Ann Holden of radio fame, will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at St. Brigid's Church. Mrs. Minton, whose 38 year radio career included stints on a variety of shows and one span as "Betty Crocker," died Sunday during a visit to Arcadia.

She was 66. RETIRED IN MARCH She was considered the dean of local broadcasters and had retired only March 9. Her closest identification with San Francisco listeners was through Ann Holden's Home Forum, a daily feature of station KGO. Mrs. Minton's specialty was the radio interview and through it she gained thousands of friends.

Her health failed her a year ago and forced her retirement. RITES AT 8:15 A.M. Tomorrow's funeral services will commence from the chapel of Gantner ney at 1965 Market St. at 8:15 a.m. Burial will be in Golden Gate National Cemetery.
