A sensation was created on north Sixth street last night about 9 o'clock when Jeremiah Keating, a well known machinist, returned to bis home and discovered his wife in the embraces of Joe Mayhem, aged 19 years. Keating became enraged and jumped at Mayhem with the fury of a wild beast, beating aad pounding him in a terrible manner. Mrs. Keating screamed and attracted the attention of the entire neighbor, hood.

The police were called and would have placed Mayhem under but he was too seriously battered and bruised to be taken to the station house. The injured husband left borne at once after the scene and went to a hotel. He says he will not live with his wife again. Mrs. Keating was formerly Kate Ryan.

Ernst Riffle has returned to Chicago after visiting friends heie. Ed Smith went to Richmond, this miming to visit relatives. Will O'Hara has returned from Richmond, Ind. Harry Campbell, relative to the article recently published concerning his religions views, states that there is no truth in the matter whatever.

Rev. Mr. Campbell was married a few weeks since and with his wife Is residing In Whltesbero, Texas, where he preaches at the Baptist church. Mr. Campbell expresses himself as very Indignant concerning the report aud is at a loss to know how it originated.

Thojnpsou had to back his tatement with an affidavit that it was true, as he had made affidavit that he never saw any such thing and the examiners have the document in their possession and Brown was shown to be a discarded suitor of Miss Hollander and full of venom. The rest of the affidavits proieduoth Ing except that Mr.

Gossett was a little more Imprudent than a married man of his age should have been. For the prosecution John Kleinfelder, Major Robert Joyce, Henry Brown, Walter Joyce and Lewis Demoret gave testimony and on the other side were Mr. Gossett, Dr. Hoover, A. C.

Turner and Spencer Clark of the school board Miss Hollander herself and her sister from Cincinnati, who combined to ex plain the statements made by the prose cution.
