Translation: Craig Stevens has a new job.

This time around the television circuit Craig will portray, according to producer David Susskind, the role of "sophisticated Mike Bell, a dynamic man of a thousand facets and head of Michael Bell Associates, public relations (and often private relations)." This new TV hero's activity arena Is downtown New York, hence the title Mr. Broadway." Craig discussed it in Susskind's offices in the TV Key, Highlights 7:30 p.m. Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. "Lucy'i summer vacation." (Repeat.) Guests Ida LupLno and Howard Duff, playing themselves, turn up In New England sharing the same fishing cabin as the Ricardos, in this 1959 opus. Sight gags dominate the show, with the funniest saved for the end when Lucy and Ida drill holes in the men's fishing boat and get their comeuppance for their pains.

7:30 p.m. (7-6-ll-13-47)-Hootenanny. (Repeat.) At the campus of the University of Arixona, some fine folk-singing talent entertain, as the New Chrisy Minsrels, Joe and Eddie, Addiss and Crofut, plus comedian Pat Harrington Join forces with Mike Settle, Stu Ramsay, Ray Tate, and the Grecnbriar Boys. 9 p.m. (4-3-4R-24) Saturday Night at the Movies.

"The Naked Spur." 11933). (Repeat.) A good adventure film bolstered by a star cast Including James Stewart. Janet Leigh, Robert Ryan and Ralph Meeker, filmed on-location in the Rockies, the rugged tale involves a group of bounty hunters in pursuit of a killer with wih a price on his head. Somewhat like the "Treasure of Sierra Madre," the drama concentrates on the element of erged in each pursuer. 9:30 p.m.

(5-8-8R-10-12-30) Summer Playhouse. "The Apartment House." For the curious, this is another frantic pilot filled with monkeys and oddballs rushing about. George Gobel plays an apartment house manager who has little control over his tenants, and familiar faces like Fred MacMurray's and Steve Allen's pop up from time to time, in an effort to help the story. 9:30 p.m. (7-7R-ll-13-47)-Hollywood Palace.

(Repeat.) Can manual opflWe) Answer: Yes, to some people in some cases. Armed services assignment officers have frequently found men whose tests revealed an obvious fitness for the arts or professions, but who had been led into a manual trade by an inherent skill with tools. A natural-born architect might have missed his true calling because he was also a natural-born carpenter. Likewise a young man with a definite flair for journalism might be diverted into radio repair. Do mosf parents bore ihtir children? Answer: Frequently; the one sided relationship between the disciplined and the disciplinarian tends to make parents tiresome.

Another reason is that parent and child are a generation apart in age, experience, outlook and interests, plus a vast dif no at ly T. "A TUESDAY WELD "Mr. Broodwoy" rolo This variety bill gives fans a chance to see hct magic of Bubbles, whose soft shoe and tap routine (one with Anna Marie Alberghetti) steal the show. Louis Jourdan plays host also to four U.S. gymnasts, the singing King Sisters and their children, comic Henry Youngman, and a ventriloquist with a U-boat routine.

Since parent can think and talk a child's intellectual level constantly, and no child can lift himself by his mental bootstraps to an adult level, boredom is bound to arise. Are nurses proud of thtir uniform? Answer: Yes, but psychia trists are questioning its value. As a result some psychiatric nurses, along with occupational and recre ational therapists, are quiet changing into civilian dress.

It was feared they would lose status and au thority, but those who shifted Into mufti received higher acceptance as persons As reported in Science News Letter, they feel more hu man and perform better, qualities needed in psychi atric nurse-patient relation ships. All about a photo journalist.

Should it be syndicated here, Craig conceivably could be seen in three series in one night: "Peter Gunn," "Mr. Broadway" and "Man of the World." "Mike Bell is nothing like Peter Gunn he said. "Mike solves problems with his head rather than fists and guns. He wears vests, hats and top coats. He is well groomed at all times.

He has this tongue-in-check, glib, sophisticated attitude." The more Craig talked the more it seemed that "Mr. Broadway" was created in the image of Garson Kanin, which can't be too far fetched, since Kanin created "Mr. Broadway." He always has mingled with the elite of New York. Its most glamoious names are his good friends. Kanin wasn't born yesterday but he wrote the book.

He has a town house of his own just like Mike Bell oE "Mr. Broadway." Also in the Mike Bell character I sense soupcons of dazzlement from the personalities of producers David Susskind and Daniel Melnick. It appears that all Craig Stevens must do is emulate Mr. Kanin, reflect the slick sophistication of the Messrs. Susskind and Melnick, deliver generous servings of Cary Grant's charm, and make love weekly to the most expensive women that the CBS budget will allow.

The ladies who have thus far been acquired for Craig one at a time include Liza Minelli, Tuesday Weld, Lauren Becall, Tammy Grimes and the ever popular Sandy Dennis. There are glamorous settings befitting the glamorous guest stars. The company has gone on location to El Morroco, the Rainbow Room, the Four Seasons, The Forum, The Tavern on the Green, and The Tower Suites. "Mr. Broadway" is an abrupt reversal in programming for producer Susskind.

He presented "East Side. West Side" last season. The switch-around is like moving from rabies to champagne. "East Sire, West Side" deglamorized life in New York, "Mr. Broadway" paints the town with glamor.

One depicted a dirty city of millions, the other depicts the "in" city of thousands. The seamier side of Manhattan will not be entirely neglected, however. The new "The Reporter" series will sink deeply into the crime and corruption and unrest and poverty of the city and the location shots will be as dramatic as those on "Naked City." "Mr. Broadway" and "The Reporter" will display between them two faces of New York. Glamorous "Mr.

Broadway," ironically is produced at the battered Biograph studio on 175th Street in the Bronx. "It is the oldest studio in the business," said Craig, "and it looks it." I I KKKK AKSO IIAF IS YY to 7ci ioi tee iim not EXAttlHDQ NEVJG ON DIAL 960 A. M. KAIL Morning Ovtrtur. KSfO Wallv King.
