You've heard him on albums, probably seen him in night clubs, and have surely watched him on the Steve Allen, Ed Sullivan and Garry Moore shows, and particularly on the Danny Thomas show where Jose was an apartment house elevator boy. Danny owns the "Bill Dana Show" and the only change has been the locale. Jose is still an elevator boy but doubling as a bell hop at Are sfronge foods craved during pregnancy? The drovers find a wagon filled with mail-order brides and they're a handsome group of ladies right out of the studio's wardrobe department. Giants vs. Philadelphia. Answer: It is widely believed that craving for certain foods during pregnancy indicates that the body requires them. Actually there is no physical need for any particular food, but a psychological need may occur for no explainable reason. The expectant mother tends to crave not strange and exotic foods, but foods that the especially likes.

It would be unlikely, for example, for an expectant mother to develop a craving for crab meat if the normally avoided tea fool Should children strive for high marks? Answer: Yes, up to a point. However, parental urging and pressure toward that end may have the opposite effect. Of course, it depends somewhat on the parents' motives in urging high marks. The girls are brunette Sue Randall and blonde Sue Anne Langdon.

You remember Sue Anne. She was with Jackie Gleason last season for about a minute. Jose and Sue Randall have a delightful scene as shy lovers, both poor and miserable but pretending to be rich and happy. Jose explains why he can't dance i "I went to private dancing school. It was very private.

They would not let anybody else in, even the teacher. I can't dance." I cite these sample lines Just to show you the light touch in the scripting. The writers come in teams-Charles Stewart and Jack Elinson, Freddie Fox and Izzy Elinson, Shelley Keller and Howard Miller, etc. Freddie Fox began his writing career doing my old "Uncle Harry" shows on KYA, here. When the teams are not working for the "Bill Dana Show" they are writing for other Danny Thomas enterprisesJoey Bishop, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke and Danny's own show.

Bill's favorite writer and closest friend is Don Hinkley, formerly of KCBS, here, but Don can't work the Dana show. Before it got on the road he signed exclusively with Phil Silvers. Lucky Phil. Opposition Will Be 'lassie" The director of the first batch of Dana shows will be Sheldon Leonard in person. Sheldon is personally responsible for all the Danny Thomas successes.

Of the Dana series, he said: "This will be the best comedy show of the year." I pointed out the hazards it will have to hurdle. It has been scheduled for 7 o'clock on Sunday nights, the NBC poll position where "Ensign O'Toole" is currently dying and where every other show has met disaster against Indestructible "Lassie." "I'm not concerned with ratings, I don't even know if anybody will watch it," Sheldon said, "but I repeat. This will be the best comedy on television. Period." He never told me that before, not for Thomas, Griffith, Van Dyke nor Bishop. The show's best Ingredient is 'Bill Dana as Jose Jimenez.

In my book, Bill is the Mr. Nice Guy of the West Coast. Being a nice guy didn't hurt Perry Como In New York. I don't think it will hurt Bill in Hollywood. n--ru1J1j indicate that status-seeking parents, and those who feel their children should repay the parents' sacrifice by getting outstanding report cards, often build up a pressure of resentment that weakens the students' motivation.

Is country life helpful for neurotics? Answer: The Inslder'l News Letter recently reported that the grass isn't a bit greener on the farm, that our country cousins are just as troubled by modern stress as those who dwell In the middle of the urban "rat race." In recent studies comparing neuroses in big cities and so-called peaceful country life, the alarming rise in accident rates on U. S. farms was found to be a direct result of farm owners' perennial harvest of overwork and worry. (Copyright, '63.
