There are numerous examples of this in show business: Keenan Wynn, John Drew Barrymore, James MacArthur, Jody McCrea, David Ladd, Jim Mitchum, and a lovely blonde lass named Elizabeth Montgomery. Miss Montgomery, who stars with Franchot Tone, Eva Le Gallienne, Henry Hull, Robert Middleton and James Drury in tonight's "Playhouse 90" rerun of "Bitter Heritage" (Channels 5-8-10-12, is the daughter of actor Robert Montgomery. Elizabeth's entrance into dramatics was singular; she tried out for a role on her father's television dramatic show unknown at the time to her father.

She won the role, then broke the news to Montgomery, who conceded she was right for the part. a "Contrary to the old saw about 'knowing some body'," Elizabeth said recently, "I've found that being 6:40 A. They don't realize that a beginning actor is a beginning actor; that although talent may be inherited, experience is not.

"Thus, when you read for a part and give them as much as you can," she adds, "there is liable to be a note of disappointment in their voices when they thank you for coming in." Another thing that may hinder an actor's offspring, says Elizabeth, is the resistance people have against showing any untoward favoritism. To avoid the accusation that they are only hiring you because you are so-and-so's daughter, they don't. Would she recommend that children of established stars enter some other field? "Heavens no!" Miss Montgomery declares. "I don't think this should stop you any more than being a plumber's son should prevent you if you want to from becoming a plumber." And with that statement, Elizabeth Montgomery proceeds, despite being the daughter of a star, to become a star herself. From dummy he discarded four dia monds, retaining as dummy last five cards the diamond ace and four spades.

In his own hand South still had left Q-4 of diamonds and A-K-6 of spades. But East, who had to come down to five cards also, had to choose a discard on the last trump lead. His holding at this point was K-7 of diamonds and J-10-8-3 of spades. If he unguarded the diamond king, South would win the last five tricks with the ace and aueen of diamonds and the three high spades. Or if East discarded a spade on the last trump lead, de clarer would take the last five tricks with the ace of dia monds and four spade tricks.

Either way South was bound to make the grand slam. East was hopelessly squeezed. It can be noted how ideally the conditions for a squeeze were met. 1. Declarer started with all the tricks but one, the first sign of a potential squeeze.

2. There were two suits either defender might have to guard, In this case diamonds and spades. 3. De clarer had communication back and forth between dum my's hand and his own. All of which factors, we have no doubt, were in South's possession when he decided to bid seven hearts.
