He joined The Examiner on Jan. 1, 1936, became day foreman of the photo engraving department Sept. 1, 1946, and then served as assistant foreman before his elevation to foreman June 28, 1954. Funeral services will be at 9:10 a. m.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. today at the Carew English Mortuary. Froelich, Ex-Alcazar Director William J. Froelich, one time stage manager and dl rector of the Alcazar Thea ter, died Sunday at his home in Butte, after a long illness.

He was 60. Mr. Froelich, who used the stage name Billy Tripp dur ing his vaudevill career, was born in Chicago in 1902, but moved to Butte with his parents when he was 2. He made his stage debut as a child, and as a singer was billed as "the little boy with the big voice." He spent years with the Pantages, Sullivan, Considine Fox West Coast circuits in vaudeville, and as an actor he had starring roles here and In other coast cities. Mr.

Froelich served as a director for John Wilkes Enterprises in Denver, Salt Lake City, Sacramento and Oakland before his positions with the Alcazar. His proteges here included Victor Jory, Anita Bryant, Benny Euray, Gladys George and many others. While with Fox West Coast, he lectured on astronomy and astrology under the name of Zaro. Several years ago he returned to Butte and entered the dry cleaning business, and was Butte's Man of the Year in 1961. Surviving are his wife, Sherrie; his father, Fred, and a brother, Buster.

O'Connor, 70. drama editor of the New York Journal-American, died early Monday of a heart attack at his home here. O'Connor also was author of the night club column of his paper under the name Gene Knight. He was formerly managing editor of the old Bronx Home News and joined the old New York Journal in 1925 as editor of its Harlem-Bronx section. He wrote a popular column for the Journal entitled "The Rover." He had been drama editor of the Journal-American since 1945.
