Neither the boy's step father, Joseph Pierce, 32, nor the mother, Rose, 28, was hurt seriously. Forged Will Slayer Gets Life Term WOODLAND, June 5. The chicken house slayer was sentenced today to life imprison Eugene L.

Sturgess, 76, of Dixon, was convicted of shoot ing James Koeber, 74, prominent Davis farmer, after forg ing documents by which he would have inherited most of Koeber's estate. Koeber was shot fatally in a chicken house on his 80-acre farm, west of Davis, last March. Superior Judge Arthur Coats of Yuba City passed sentence after denying a motion for a new trial. S. F.

College Graduation More than 1,800 students will receive their diplomas today at San Francisco State College's 58th annual com mencement at Cox Stadium on the campus. The commencement ad dress will be delivered by Adrien J. Falk, member of the college advisory board, whose speech is titled "Weighed in the Balance." The student speaker will be Geoffrey Lardner, an honor graduate who will receive a bachelor of arts degree. His address will be on "The American System." College President Glenn S. Mr. Bartmann died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. He was 81. Jets' Flight Memorial to Col.

Veigel A squadron of jet planes from Hamilton Air Force Base will fly over the base chapel today at 10 a.m. after memorial services for Col. Lester P. Veigel, former chief surgeon for the Western Air Defense Force. Colonel Veigel died Wednesday of a heart attack at his home at Hamilton Air Force Base.

Burial will be at Colonel Veigel's home at Dickinson, N. D. An Air Force ser geant held up the local Bank of America branch today and was captured 23 minutes later by a California highway pa trolman. Tha entire loot, $3,160, was recovered. The bandit was identified as Staff Sgt. Jay L. Harvey, 31, of nearby Castle Air Force Base. He drew a revolver on teller Ron Larson and handed him a note demanding all his 5. 510 and $20 bills.

The bandit, wearing civilian clothes, wrapped the money into a newspaper. He took the note, warned the teller, "Be quiet," and left the bank. At Ballico, 12 miles north- east of here, he was inter- cepted by Highway Patrol man Paul Palazuelos. Harvey offered no resistance. He was a well known amateur photographer. He leaves his widow, Henri-ete; a son, Dr. Thomas Schulte, of Woodside, and a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth L. Hobbs of San Francisco.
