It is the Denver Broncs who they'll attempt to fry in the fat of unfriendliness, the 1:30 p. m. occasion affording the East Bay eleven its best opportunity to date to crack the American League victory column. Reason one is the Raiders are on the upgrade. Reason two is that they have already defeated the Rocky Mountain team in exhibition fare, 49-12.

Now, almost a month later, the Broncos are a fired up, fresh group of athletes that came close to defeating the New York Titans, 35-38, in the East last Sunday. APPEAR READY Matter of fact, Frank Fil-chock's men of the mountain have slowly improved to a point where they too are ready for a top effort. Big man in the setup is Frank Tripucka. 33 year old onetime Notre Dame quarterback who seems to complete almost half of everything thrown. His chief target is Taylor, an all-time pro pass catcher last year with 92.

Other sure-handers are Gene Mingo and Al Frazier. If Denver is vulnerable it would be in the defensive category where three opposing clubs have totaled 90 points in 180 minutes of football. Oakland, of course, is happy to be facing an outfit with less defensive genius after being blanked two straight weeks before breaking out Barr. Gendebien, now living in Foun-tainbleau near Paris, has been assigned a two litre Lotus Monte Carlo for the Monterey speed festival.

The choice of the smaller car was obviously made to give the team entry a shot at prize money in the over and under two litre division. Moss will be driving a 2.5 litre Lotus. Gendebien comes to the California race with a record un-equaled in the annals of road racing. The 37 year old European three times has shared victories at LeMavs and Sebring. He is unquestionably the finest enduro driver in the history of auto racing.

This year his wins were shared with Phil Hill of Santa Monica. The two speedsters also took the endurance titles in '58 at LeMans and in '59 at Sebring. In 1960 Gendebien shared a ride with countryman Paul Frere to win LeMans and in the same year co-drove a Porsche with Hans Hermann to the checkered flag at Sebring. One of the few top rated pilots who prefers sports cars to Formula I racing machines, Gendebien rarely places high on driver point championship standings. As a sports car wheel jockey, however, he is a valuable property for the factories aiming at the manufacturers championship.
