DR. H. J. noted musician, whose class com sitions charmed San Francisco audiences more than a 1 ago, was ended by his death yesterday at San where he had been official municipal organist at Balboa Park since 1917. News wa of Dr.

StewSTEWART art's death Career Ends as reported in Associated Press dispatches. He was 73 and had been ill since last October. Born in London, Dr. Stewart began his career in music at the age of 11 as a choir boy. Under tutelage of the parish organist he mastered the piano and organ, winning such recognition that he was selected as organist for one of the smaller churches.

Upon completing his education at Oxford in 1875, Dr. Stewart came to America, and for a time was organist at Trinity Church, Boston. Later he came to San Francisco to assume similar duties at St. Dominic's Church. Sixteen years ago he was named official organist at San Diego.

At one time he was also head of the school of music at Pacific University, San Jose. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Church, San Diego, tomorrow morning. The body will be brought to San Francisco for burial. Services Today for Dr.

Helen Crutchett Friends and relatives will gather today for the funeral services of Dr. Helen Crutchett-MacDonald, who died Monday following a brief illness. The services will be held at 9:30 o'clock, from the chapel of Carew and English, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. She is survived by her husband. Thomas S.

MacDonald; a son, Dr. William Crutchett of Marysville, and two daughters, Mrs. L. A. Zuur of Santa Rosa and Mrs.

C. P. Herring of this city. Chopin, Noted Cartoonist Cf Coast, Dies Death yesterday ended a long, heroic fight against heart disease made by Oscar Charles Chopin, 59, one of the West's foremost cartoonists. Chopin died in Los Angeles, he went in 1931 from San Francisco. He had served for twentyseven years on the staff of The San Francis Exami r. co Illness forced him to up his work. CHOPIN Loses Battle Nauheim, Germany, where he had gone seeking health. With him when he died were his wife, Mrs. Louise Hinckley Chopin, their daughter, Miss Kate Chopin, and his brother, Fred Chopin, of Oakland. Born in St. Louis, September 24, 1873, the cartoonist was the son of Oscar and Kate Chopin.

His mother, of whom a biography was published recently. was widely known as a writer of Creole stories. Following funeral services at Pierce Brothers' Chapel, Los Angeles, the time to be announced later, the body will be sent to St. Louis St. Mary's Alumni Will Dine Tonight Alumni of St.

Mary's College will gather for a reunion dinner at 6:30 this evening in the Hotel Cecil, in observance of "Universal Night." Brown, 66, printing trades inventor and prominent clubman, will be held at 1:30 this afternoon from the Truman Chapel, Oakland. A brief service will also be said at the California Crematory. He was vice president and general manager of the Pacific Manifolding Book Company and president of the Oakland Mortgage and Finance Corporation.
