Department Commander William "Bill" Farrell, newly elected head of the American Ix-gion in California, will preside at the joint installation of officers of the Seventh and Eighth Districts here Friday night in the Veterans War Memorial Building. On hand for the colorful ceremonies will be a large delegation of local leaders of the as well as a wide representation of Legionnaires from posts throughout San Francisco.

Tonight, American Legionnaires here will attend one of the more entertaining affairs on their calendar the "Grand Jubilesta" sponsored at Club Lido by C. C. Thomas and George Washington Posts of the American Legion. In the form of a farewell party for retiring commanders and a "bon voyage" for the new commanders of the posts, the affair is expected to attract a wide attendance of veterans in the Bay region. iT Sunnyside Post of the American Legion will hold a "Know Your Flag Night" in the Veterans War Memorial Building tonight.

During the ceremonies, the story behind each star will be told by Sergeant Greenwell of the United States Army Recruiting Service. rH The Fidelity Sterling Auxiliary No. 97, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, will hold a benefit whist party at the Veterans Building tonight. Mrs. Gertrude Newton is in charge of the affair.

Members of the four camps of the United Spanish War Veterans in San Francisco will travel to Alameda tonight where they will be the guests of Barrett Camp at an annual "corn feast" in the local Veterans Building. vi Rialto Post No. 203, American Legion, will hear William Montgomery of the chamber of commerce here, discuss merchandising problems in the Western Hemisphere at a regular lunch meeting today at the Commercial Club. President Arthur Cooper of the Ninety-first Division has called a meeting of the 1940 Ninety-first Division convention committee tonight in the Veterans Building.
