nasta called "Louisiana Purchase set back Invented by Terry of High Point N' and Mrs Enola Rogers of Monroe La As usual we must make it clear at the outset that this new game does not follow the official laws but a very entertain ing game nevertheless and you may wish to try it Here are the i main differences between Louisiana Purchase etc and the regular game: The pack is always frozen You always need two natural cards that match the previous discard to pick up the discard pile Each player may discard only one wild card and this is put face up on the table near the player who has discarded it (to make sure that everybody knows that he has used up his quota) When the discard pile is picked up these wild cards are taken at the same time A natural canasta of seven aces gets a bonus of 1000 points A ca nasta of seven wild cards gets a bonus of 2000 pointe If the op ponents meld out before your side has completed 'one canasta all your melds and red threes count minus instetad of plus (This is the set back feature of the game) In making a canasta of wild cards you are allowed to put down three or more wild cards as a starter Your partner should add to this meld if he can A skillful player put down the three wild cards unless he has one or two in reserve in his hand The partner should surely add wild cards at once if he has two or more but he may hold back if he has only one wild card If the partner add any wild can the original melder may soon decide to give up tbe idea of melding a canasta of wild cards Either member of the part nership may add four natural cards to turn it into a mixed ca nasta However this must be done in a single meld by one player he must put down all four of the natural cards in one play Otherwise the game is just like regular canasta "As the tension develops when a discard pile becomes very comment the inventors in a little booklet of their rules "it is often referred to as an pot or the Louisiana Purchase meaning that the discard pile may be worth as much as the United States paid rance in 1803 for the Louisiana IK UNITED NATIONS The Assembly swung today into what it hopes is its final week but with three colonial
