in harbor, which was the first of tha hip activities to suffer in the world slump, is displaying juarked stimulation. Ten big tank steamships will leave San. Francisco harbor this month with over 80,000,000 gallons of kerosene, gasoline, fuel oil and lubricating oil for various world ports. This total shipment alone 1 valued at $270,000,000. In addition there will be eleven big tankers departing San Francisco bay refinery stations this month transporting 44,000,000 gallons of kerosene In the transpacific trade to the Orient.

One by one the fleet of tankers of the Standard Oil, which have been tied up at the yards at South City since the early days of the depression, have been pulled into the stream, placed oni the ways for overhauling and dispatched to sea with full cargoes of California petroleum products. Marine officials foresee In this activity a rapid revival of steamship business. The fuel, they say, Is to be consumed by reviving factories in the output of products now being demanded everywhere. One shipment of the by-product of California petroleum which Is causing unusual comment is that taken out Tuesday by the United States Shipping Board tanker Hammac. This craft took 3.000,000 gallons of gasoline to London for the Union Oil Company.

Speculation is keen as to the reasons for such a shipment due to the fact that gasoltne here is quoted at 23 cents a gallon while It is procurable on the Atlantic sea-hoard at IS cents a gallon. The Eastern market is said to be well stocked with this commodity and shippers are at a loss to account as to whv a big freighter should take gasoline all the way around from the Pacific to London at a higher rate for the fuel and added cost in transportation. LUCKENBACH APPOINTMENTS. Zae George, assistant general manager of the Luckenbach Line on this const yesterday announced the appointment of H. Kwing as manager of the Oakland" office of the steamship company succeeding Roy Thompson, resigned.

Ewlng for a number of years has r.een general agent for the Lehigh Valley Railroad and later the Pere Marquette Railroad. He has also had extensive steamship experience with the Pacific 1 Mail Company when he was connected with the export department of that line. He takes charge today. D. S.

McCrone, who has resigned as general agent of the Western Pacific Railroad at San Jose, will assume his new duties as district freight agent with the Luckenbach Iiine today with headquurters in this city. A. Both men are well known in the shipping fraternity and have achieved reputations in the intricate details of traffic matters. FISHERMEN RESCUED. Five San Francisco fishermen adrift In a launch five miles southwest of Point Reyes were rescued early Yesterday morning by Captin Johnson of the coasting steamer Multnomah, which picked up the craft and towed it into San Francisco bay.

Alianti was in command or the 'fishing vessels. The men had gone out Monday to fish for rock-, rod. The launch late Tuesday suffered engine trouble. Distress signals were displayed and at o'clock vesterday morning the Multnomah effected the rescue, IMPROVES BAY BOAT.
