Asked in an Arkansas Democrat-Gazette telephone interview Monday about how things were at the White House amid the investigation, Hillary Clinton said, "It's just more of the same. I think a lot of this is prejudice against our state. They wouldn't do this if we were from some other state." lege.prosecu-tors have begun questioning some of the White House lawyers, including Mills. Thomason, a television producer, emerged from the courthouse spent in the White House last January, when he came to help advise Clinton on damage control.

"I've always believed the president was telling the truth," said Thomason, who is expected to stay in Washington this week to help Clinton prepare for his Aug. 17 appearance. "I thought the grand jurors were nice, and the prosecutors were courteous. And it was actually a good morning," Thomason added as he departed for the offices of his lawyer, Robert Bennett, the same attorney who represented Clinton in the Paula Jones sexual harass ment lawsuit A source said that independent counsel Kenneth Starr's prosecutors were seeking information on what Clinton might have confided to those close to him about his relationship with the former White House intern. Starr is looking into whether Clinton and Lewinsky had sex and whether he urged her to lie about it in the Jones lawsuit.

Clinton has denied a sexual relationship with Lewinsky, 25. But, according to legal sources, she told the grand jurors that contrary to the president's sworn denial and her own affidavit in January, she did have a sexual relationship with him. Lewinsky also told prosecutors that while Clinton didn't tell her to lie, they discussed ways to conceal the relationship, including returning gifts she had received from the president to his secretary, the legal sources said. Clinton's personal attorney, David Kendall, obtained permission from U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright to view the videotape of Clinton denying under oath Jan.

Thomason's testimony was followed by that of deputy White House counsel Cheryl Mills. In the afternoon, a number of Secret Service personnel appeared at the courthouse, also subpoenaed to testify in the probe. Abdul-Rahman Abdul-Kader, 31, was found dead Sunday morning in his delivery truck on the Potrero Hill. A coroner's spokesman said the cause of death had not been determined, but police Inspector Napoleon Hendrix said that Abdul-Kader appeared to have been shot in the head. Hendrix said family members found Abdul-Kader on the 800 block of Tennessee Street. Abdul-Kader always reported to his wife where he would be and how long he would be gone, Hendrix said. So, she became concerned when she hadn't heard anything from him.

Switchblades seized by customs at SFO San Francisco In an age of semiautomatic weaponry, the switchblade may seem as outdated as a knight's lance.

It appears, though, there is still a market for the knife that was the onetime weapon of choice for your average leather-jacketed bad boy. Nearly 5,000 of the spring-loaded knives were seized by federal agents at San Francisco International Airport, destined for a downtown Miami martial arts store, the U.S. Customs Service announced Monday. It has been against the law to import switchblades since the 1930s. The 4,920 Taiwanese-made knives confiscated July 30 came in an inexpensive red-cased model and a more sophisticated sleek black-handled blade with a serrated edge.

They were marked pocket knives and headed for Little China Town which sold them for about $25 each. "These knives were being sold indiscriminately through the Internet to pretty much anybody who wanted to buy them," said Raphael Lopez, special agent in charge of the Customs Service in South Florida, Agents hunt escaped female inmate, 65 DUBLIN Authorities were looking for a female inmate who walked away from a minimum-security federal prison camp here, the Federal Bureau of Prisons reported.
