C. K. Allen score four in the ninth and another in the final end to register a 9-6 victory over Mrs. Bruce Black, of Glebe. The big end In recording the treasured seven ender, Mrs.

Lewis was lying seven in the house with Mrs. Rooney's final rock resting on the button. The City View skip glanced her final rock off Mrs. Rooney's shot stone sending it off on a near 90 degree angle and ending up out of the house by inches herself Following the one-sided contest, Mrs. Rooney felt that Mrs.

Lewis actually deserved an eight-ender due to her magnificent shotmaking. "It's not that we were that pointed out Mrs. Rooney, "but we are a first year rink and I think we did extremely well in advancing this far in the competition." The closest match of the event occurred in the third-flight Dubuc Trophy event when Mrs. J. A.

Morrison of Deep River picked up two in the eighth end to card a 9-8 decision over Ottawa's Mrs. J. E. Hutchison. Leading 7-3 after six ends, Mrs.

Morrison saw her lead dwindle to one when Mrs. Hutchison picked up a three on the seventh. From here the visitors settled down and added two more on the eighth to outlast the Capital quartet. Score by ends and personnel follow: By Ron Covell Citizen sports writer A near perfect score on the second end by City View's Mrs. F.

A. Lewis started the downfall of Mrs. R. S. Roo-ney's Rideau rink yesterday afternoon at the Rideau Ladies' Curling club.

Mrs. Lewis missed the curler's dream, an eight ender, in the first flight Wood Trophy of the City of Ottawa Granite Ladies' Invitational Bonspiel by one shot in picking up her second consecutive triumph of the 12th annual competition. With Mrs. Rooney's quartet, leading 1-0 after the initial end, Mrs. Lewis unleashed a potent attack that had the plate glass skips reeling.

The experienced master piloted her rink through a five-ender in the following third frame and then garnered two's in both the fifth and sixth ends to walk away with the main event flight. Hudson winner In the secondary flight of the four-trophy competition, Mrs. P. H. Forhan, donor, presented her trophy to Mrs.

Clarence Nelson, of Hudson, Que. In the 10-end match, Mrs. Nelson scored pairs in the fifth, sixth and seventh ends to walk away with the runner-up prize registering a 10-6 triumph over Mrs. O. H.

At the halfway mark, they had only one win and two losses in the double round-robin series. But in the second half, they never lost a game and actually outshone even the Wool-leys. Unfortunately, the early mistakes kept them from the championship. While Mrs. Woolley was easily winning "on sheet two, the Ottawa rink of Mrs.

Braid, vice-skip Mrs. A. H. Graves, second Mrs. T.

L. Davis and lead Mrs. T. C. Atkinson battled on even terms with Mrs.

Forsyth going into the seventh end. That's when Mrs. Forsyth missed her final two shots due NORTH BAY Special )-Mrs. Audrey Braid waited two games too long to find her curling touch. As a result, Mrs.

Emily Woolley will represent Ontario in the Dominion Diamond at Saint John, N.B., commencing February 25. Mrs. Woolley, the 64-year-old Toronto skip, accepted the Dominion Silver plaque from C. H. Lang, of Toronto, district manager of Dominion Stores, sponsor of the Canadian ladies' curling championship at the windup banquet last night.

Mrs. Woolley wound up with a 5-1 record after polishing off Mrs. Peggy Morrison's Noranda, Que. Rink, 11-1, in the final round. Mrs.

Braid took the runner-up position with a 4-2 record on a 9-6 decision over Mrs. Elsie Forsyth, of Port Arthur, Mrs. MAIN STORE: 2932 Baseline Road TA 8-2731 OPEN EVERY WEEK NSGKT UNTIL 9 P.M. Order Opens 8 a.m. Daily Saturday 9 6 to excellent guarding by Ottawa and the City View curlers stole two.

Port Arthur picked up three on the first, then had to settle for singles on the third, fifth and eighth. Delegates to the Ontario Ladies' Curling Association voted to 'restrict future zones to provincial boundaries This means Noranda, will no longer be able to compete for the Northern Ontario title and it also avoids the possibility of no Ontario rink in the Dominion Diamond The Eastern Ontario zone will host next year's championships Cornwall and Mrs. Braid's rink could surprise if they win the Eastern title Apparently the experience in the early games was all they needed.
