tie for eight individual AAU cham pionships Team honors also are at stake in this 62nd national tournament opening some time after noon when the first pair of gloved com petitors climbs through the ropes in the Boston garden ring A lucky punch a sudden In jury or sickness or an odd deci sion can and often has changed the course of such a tournament Even so most AAU officials and other observers League of Roanoke Proceeds from the game which will be played on Maher ield will be used toward the establish ment of a recreation center for girls in the southwest section of Roanoke The center will be a place where girls of the area can come to fill spare time hours with carefree fun and worthwhile projects a spokes man of the league said yesterday The Junior League will employ the services of a recreation di rector will plan and supervise the center's various activities This will be a fulltime job and the di rector will work with volunteers from the league A goal of $10000 has been set by
