To date the pupils have turned into the fund $325, their quota plus $144. The school pledge of $181 was set by the school captain, Philip Davis, and room lieutenants, Elaine Kamppuri, Judith Matson, Carol Woods, Jane Longsjo, William Craigen'and John Rintala together with the school principal, Miss Ruth D. O'Brien. The pledge averaged $1 per pupil enrolled at the school. Earnings at the school are the result of two school work programs plus the independent effort of some pupils.

Miss Mary Luscombe, former teacher at the school, aided the boys and girls in the fund drive by making soap which was marketed by pupil-salesmen. The students also worked collectively on a grab- tery gift. Sale of wrapping papers and cards have augmented the per-; sonal earnings of several of the young people. Two third-graders, Cecile Glode and Ronald Moilanen, have earned $49 and $32 respectively by working both on school and personal projects. Miss O'Brien announced the school pupils are still active supporters of the Fitchburg Youth Library drive despite the fact the school's quota is already well oversubscribed.
