(CP)--A partially filled gasoline reservoir with a capacity today burst into flames following a shattering explosion that sent pieces of metal flying in all directions and shook houses for miles around. No one was reported injured.

Impact of the initial burst was SO strong, doors on Champlain Street in Quebec City, directly across the St. Lawrence River from Levis, were blown open. A number of residents in homes near the reservoir vacated their houses hurriedly but said there was no apparent damage. The explosion occurred on the grounds of Imperial Oil Limited ot Pointe Levis. Because four other reservoirs containing furnace oil are located nearby, the blaze still is reported by the Levis Fire Department as out of control but an Imperial Oil official said "there is no danger" flames will spread.
