1. Oeom. Chem. Martin Markua died at the home of his aon, Mr. William Murray street, in his 92nd year.

Mr. Markus was wrdely known in town and throughout the county, and was held In very high esteem. in Germany in 18 34, Mr. Markus lived and received his education there. In 1S57 he married Miss Caroline Yandt, In 1SS3 Mr.

and Mrs. Markus came to Pembroke, Mr. Markus locating at Golden Lake on a farm. Hia trade was that of stone masonry and bricklaying. Over forty-six years ago hey came to Pembroke, where Mr.

Markus made many friends. In 1908 Mrs. Markus died and of eight children three survive him, William Markus, Mrs. Charles Panke, of Pembroke, and Mrs. Augusta Kelow, of Wilberforce.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at the home of his son, after which intrmnt will he made in the Meth C. C. Bingham A. Hist. Alg.

With simple but impressive ceremony the remains of Sir Adam Beck, chairman of the Ontario Hydro Electric, Power Commission, were laid to rest in Hamilton cemetery this afternoon.

Since coming to Ottawa Miss Sharpe had been a member of Christ Church Cathedral, where she was keenly interested in missionafy work, was a member of the Ladles' Aid. She had formerly been connected with the Auditor General's office, and latterly in the Interior Department, having retired about five years ago. Surviving are one brother, Ernest R. Sharpe, of Boston, and three, sisters, Mrs.

S. A. Dunlevle. Mrs. R.

S. Bishop, and her twin sister, Miss Blanche Sharpe, all residing 4n Ottawa. The funeral, which will be of a private nature, will be held from Mrs. R. B.

Bishop's residence, 155 McLeod street, on Thursday to Blue church Prescott. Death of J. B. Elliot. Mr.

J. B. Elliot died yesterday morning at his home. 142 First avenue, ia his 80th year, leaving a wide circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn his passing. He was born in Ireland although of Scotch descent, and while a young man decided to seek his fortune in Canada.

He emigrated to Brockville where he' became associated with the G.T.R., and soon after assumed the post of engineer. Being a faithful and diligent worker, promotion came rapidly, and soon he was promoted to inspector of loco- province, i tomorrow morning. Kequiem high auth. c. K.

A life-long' resident of Ottawa and former civil servant, Miss Florence Sharpe, passed away on Tuesday at a local hospital, at the age of 74 years.
