BAPTIST Corner 4 Lmirif I West and it'5'- mm THE Fully one hundred and fifty beys were at ihe C.S.E.T. Conclave, in St. Andrew's church, latl evening, when Hon. Ronald Freden-burgh, of Perth, member of the cabinet in the Ontario Older Boys' Parliament, addressed the gathering on the Bond Selling Campaign for the Ontario Boys' Work Board, which is oeing started. Representatives f'om alt the Tuxis Boys and Trail Rangers in the city were present.

That there was a great need for the increase cf funds with which to carry on the C.S.E.T. work in the province of Ontario in an efficient and adequate manner, was the statement of the boy cabinet minister. He stressed the fact that all the organization work was being done by one raid secretary and a stenographer, and that the work was being limited because of the shortness of funds. He urged the boys of the Ottawa groups to bend their energies toward raising their quota of the 000 that is needed, which is 1 1.000, and said that aftT the fine showing made by the Ottawa groups last year in the previous campaign, there could be no doubt that they would "put the campaign over the top this year." The proceedings were presided over by Mayor rank Boardman. of the Bo3'R' City Council of Ottawa, who welcomed the member for Lanark County, lion.

Ronald Fre-denburgh, on belmlf of the boys and mentors of Ottawa. He asfired him that the Oltawa boys would do their share- The gathering was preceded by a supper at which each group decorated its own table. METHODIST erficial reader of tht day'a r.ewa is able to name rich men and distinguished men hoe wealth and pow-er are only ashes of bitterness, because in their homes aad in their hopei and in their hear they have missed the real prizes of life. Man Sites in his affections and aspirations; not In hts poweaslona. Is It Well With My Friend? So the summit of the Farewell Supper of Jesus with his disciples vas the Master's prayer for them.

All the affection and yearning of a perfect friend gushes hot from the heart of Jesus in theas auhlima lines. Obser' that in this high hour of naked realities the Friend did not concern himself about the physical health and prosperity and happiness of his comrades. Christ wanted the supreme things for his dear ones their spiritual steadfastness and unity -with one another and with God. His sole was a soul-concern. Man's derivation and man's destiny are God.

"What the scholars in a London drawing room grope after, namely, the essntlally spiritual character of humanity, Jesus made luminous two thousand years ago In the secret Cpper Room in the old City of Jerusalem. The consciousness of finite man's relationship to the Infinite, who 1. also our Father, is the'highest goal of all knowledge. Christ called this life eternal; or, as the Weymouth Version expresses it, "(he Life of the Face to face with the Father whom he was eager have all the world know as such. Jesus affirmed that real life, the life that lasts, the life that is alone worth living, is this one which overleaps all barriers of flesh and sense and time; and is a conscious awareness of God and of Christ.

One of the Christian songsters breathes this same fervent desire: "Lord Jesus, make thyself to me, A livins, bright reality." One's heart thrills in contemplation of the innumerable company of men and women, the world around, who make up the mystic fellowship of the friends of Jesus Christ; and who in Him have come to know Ood. There is no other fraternity like it on earth. As The High Stoop! Ioit Two contrasting ideas shine out from every paragraph of this profound chapter and no Lesson Scripture better repays careful reading and rereading. In all available versions. One Is the assumption of Divine dignity by Jesus; he puts on Ihe royal purple ere he stoops.

Like Tbe Sunday School Lesson lor February is, "Christ's Intercessory-Prayer. "John Vsyiie and unsatisfactory reports came from England, about the middle of last December, concerning certain atonihlng in telepathy in which the renowned scholar Xnd' publicist. Frof. Gilbert Murray, waa the central figure, and the famous statesman, A. J.

Balfour now the Earl cf Balfour being also a participant. This big news was not followed up on this side if tne water. Fmhably the casual reader did tot catch the staggering of the report that Professor ilurrav, in a distant room, had re-pated the thoughts nprewed by the testing cotnmlttee, under most rigid conditions. Now the Manchester Guardian is at hsnd with a fuller report of this epochal experiment in tosether with a carefully weighed declaration by the, Karl cf Balfour, which needs to be rad twice, that its full import may be grasped; and its application to this prwent Sunday school lesson: "I would urge everyone who really wants to make a true picture of the world in which we live to remember that these es- reriments are conclusively proved --that there is a wholly unknown, unexplained, unconjeciured method of traversing space between two self-conscious organisms in a manner on which no theory of sound or electricity, or any theory on which we have the dimmest notion, can at the moment throw any light." Glimpsuig Man Spiritual Powers. If vhat Lord Bailout; and his eminent associates say is true, then all the ages-old arguments of the ma-terlallfts again." prayer are shat-; iered into smithereens.

Here proof that man has powers far beyond the reach of all the instruments or knowledge of science. it man I mind may speak to the mind of distant man, without the use even of any such mvsterious intermediary as the radio, then all t'f spiritual possibility of a human life must be. accepted. Prsver straightway becomes a wholly rational function of man 5 personality. What fcirnple Christian faith has all alone accepted and experienced concerning the realities ot the spirit, i suddenly put.

upon a test-d sclen- wi. Ait 4hA arroeant na arrogani. The same- good sentences of this peerless what an enviable privilege is that of the Sunday School teacher, who has half an hour or more for spoken exposition! to the closing reminder of the interflow and Interplay of the personality of the praying Christ ar.d that of his disciples. What Professor Murray faintly demonstrated in London last December, Jesus set forth in the City of David, two thousand years ago. And the Saviour who then so agonisingly prayed for bis friends, is still pray, ing for them: "We have ii Ado-cate with the Father;" "He ever llveth to make intercession for us." In dealing with our day's difficulties, the power of prayer is not to be disregarded the "prayers of Christ and the prayers of his people.

"Fray for my soul. More things are wrought by prayer Than this world dreams of. Where fore, let thy voice Rise like a fountain for me night and day. For what are men better than sheep or goats I That nourish a blind, life within the brain. If, knowing God, they lift not hands of prayer I Roth for themselves and those who call them friend? For so the whole round earth is every way Bound by gold chains about Ihe feet cf God." SEVE SENTENCE SERMONS Do what you ean where you are with what you have.
