"In our minds there were no doubts I.B.Eddy'P Wdcn Mont; 5 President 4wfP 'Mtasf Wall Paper for the New Year Not specially designed for this time of the year, but for particular rooms. -j. After the holidays we must down to those cold dreary winter evenings, therefore why not tet our estimate for decorating.

Our large and varied stock of Foreign and Domestic Wall Papers must be moved to make room for the" New Line. It will pay you to give us a call. J. B. Buford 70 RIDEAU Indianapolis, Dec.

29. Thlrty-eisht union officials, including President Frank M. Ryan, of the Iron Workers' International Union, who were ac cused of joining the McNamara dynamite plots In a strike against "open shop" contractors, were yesterday found guilty. The only men acquitted were Buckley and Teiffert. Sixteen minutes was all the time required by the court to receive the jury, read its verdict of "thirty-eight guilty and two not guilty," and dismiss the Jurors.

That verdict brought to an end the historic three months "dynamite conspiracy" trial. It meant, except in the cases of Herman G. Seiffert. Mil waukee and Daniel Buckley, Davenport, Iowa, who were the two men out of forty to be adjudged "not guilty," that the government's charges about dynamite plots extending over six years had been sustained. It meant also that thirty wives, many of whom, with their children, patiently had sat through the lonir-drawn-out ordeal, were at last to be separated from their husbands.

Important details yet remain In consequence of the verdicts. Prisoners who receive terms longer than one year are to be taken to the federal prison at Leavenworth, Kas. A special train will go by a secret route. Details as to its time of leaving Indianapolis and its arrival at Leavenworth are not to be made public. It was learned that United States Marshal Edward Schmidt, who will accompany the prisoners, already had prepared for a special train, which will leave as soon as possible after the sentences.

A delay In the arrangements may be occasioned by appeals, which may act as stays on the execution of the court's judgments. District Attorney Charles W. Miller, who prosecuted the cases for the government, said he would oppose any appeals for light sentences in the cases of certain of the prisoners. The prisoners, four in each cell, occupy two tiers of cells In the Marion county Jail. They are on the second floor of the gray stone building, within a few blocks from the heart of the city.

Each prisoner had been handcuffed immediately after the courtroom was cleared of spectators, and, between TVT deputy marshals, they were marched tornej' as an "anarchist" for critl-flve blocks through the streets in aicisms published in union magazine; hrMHont ailntap in lha nniinln A IV.nnl.nn a brilliant winter sunlight to the county Tveitmoe. CABINETGILESS HERE Friend of Pres. Elect WilSon Names Probable Members. The adage of going abroad for news of home fits the case of a United States cabinet prediction which comes to light through a letter received in Ottawa from a most reliable source. It is to the effect that a friend of President elect Woodrow Wilson, who spent several weeks with him In Bermuda, has stated that the following appointments are as good as assured. Attorney General, William H.

Wash-tagion, of Tennessee, attorney general of the State of Tennessee: Secretary of the Navy, Edward H. House, of Texas, a life long friend of- Governor Wilson; Secretary of War, James CreelTnan, of New York, president of municipal civil service commission: Postmaster general, Joseph Daniels, of North Carolina, or William B. Lamar, of Florida, attorney general of Florida. The writer observes that the traditions of democracy are preserved In these selections, "and wisely so," there being both a Washington and a Lamar in the prospective cabinet. ATTACKS BOHAR UW Massingham, in the Nation, Comments on Proposals.

(Canadian Associated Press Cable.) London. Dec. 29. Massingham has a vigorous attack upon Bonar Law and his conference proposal in this week's Nation. He refers to the strong disavowals which have poured from Canada, Australia and New Zealand, which must be.

dlscolncertlng to the leader of the opposition and says: "Suggesting that the responsibility of imposing British taxes shall be undertaken by dominions representatives is regarded as a menace. The ordinary colonial is a simpleminded reasoner. His reasoning leads him to the view that if he Is invited to have a hand in British taxing policy, the British government may also want to have a hand in his. Nor are his fears foolish. If Bonar Law's suggesting ever crystallized into a practical proposal, it would certainly appear as a part of a larger scheme of fiscal cooperation for the purposes of a common defence and common foreign policy between the mother country and the dominions." MINISTER OF ROADS Quebec Province Will Appoint Mr.

J. A. Tessier, M.L.A. Quebec, Dec 29 Owing to the importance of the good roads movement 1n this province, it is said that Mr. J.

A. Tessier. M.L.A.. for Three Rivers, will be appointed minister of roads in the Gouin cabinet. This portfolio was crested last year, and added to the department of agriculture.

CUNNINGHAM CO. Aseots Holbrooke Ibainbers (1st Floor) 104 Sparks SL Pkooe 2173. 'We are Bedding Jail. One hour after their arrival in Jail the prisoners were served the regular noon-day meal, which consisted for each prisoner of half a loaf of bread, a tin of coffee, and beef and cabbage. The prisoners, each visible to the others through the bars, were variously downcast or cheerful.

Some professed to take the Jury's verdict in light spirits, while disappointment plainly was written across the countenances of the others. Marshall Schmidt at once placed extra guards about the jail to prevent demonstrations by crowds. Outside the jail there was enacted a scene in which joy played no part. It had to do with the wives, sisters and mothers of the defendants. That verdict.

delivered in the sombre courtroom in so brief a time, struck first silence, and then an outburst of hysterical sobbing among the women who for months had hoped for different result. Some of the women attempted to climb over the railings which had for weeks separated them during the court's sessions from that part of the room where the defendants sat. Arms appealingly were stretched forth. Mrs. Frank J.

Hlggins, Boston, fainted as she saw her husband led away. The children of others began to cry, but the order's of the court were inexorable. Clear the courtroom," demanded Marshall Schmidt, who, with a staff of special deputies, had 38 pairs of handcuffs in readiness. In the streets the terrified faces and gesticulations of those who followed In the wake of the procession to the Jail were seen. Three abreast, a prisoner with a handcuffed deputy on each side, the procession, itself almost a hair-block long, marched through crowded streets, but among crowds that looked on in silence.

It was as silent sb a pantomime, save far in the rear. In the rear were rushing people who were trying to get near the pri soners. Many tried to fight their way up. Yet at the county Jail the relatives of the prisoners and labor union asso ciates soon appeared in such great numbers It was impossible to admit them. Marshal Schmidt held a conference with government officials as to what steps to take In handling those who claimed the privilege of seeing the prisoners.

VISITING THE PRISONERS. "Lawyers first and women after wards," he finally announced as his decision as to who should be admitted to the cells. All afternoon and night the lawyers and women divided the time allowed for visitors. At the door of one of the corridors of the Jail, President Ryan, of the Iron Workers' Union, was Interviewed tonight. He was not allowed to be seen in his cell, but, in response to a request, he was led out into a corridor.

"I have nothing to say about the verdicts except this," said Mr. Ryan, "Greater men than we have been incarcerated. In olden times they used to cut off the ears of honest men." "What will be done in the interests of the Iron workers' union, now that all but two of the officials are in prison?" "I will say nothing about that at this time." replied Mr. Ryan. J.

E. McClory, Cleveland, who recently was appointed secretary of the union to Bucceed Hockin, and Ed. Lewis, a member of the executive board, are the only officials now out of prison. The Iron Workers' International headquarters, where dynamite and nitroglycerine were found hidden in vaults after the MdNamaras' arrest, appeared to be deserted except for two women stenographers. They said they did not know where Mr.

McClory and Mr. Lewis were. THE JURY FOREMAN, Newcastle, Dep. 29. Frank Dare, the farmer who was foreman of the Jury which convicted the $8 defendants In the dynamite conspiracy trial, arrived here last night.

"Speaking- for the Jury, I w'sh to say that we gave careful consideration to all of the testimony, and arrived at our verdict after due deliberation." said Mr. Dare. "When we entered the Jury room we took up the Instructions of the court from the bottom, and It resulted in my election as foreman. "Strange to say. from the start it was agreed to Buckeley and Seiffert were innocent.

They were promptly nciultted. and then we took the other defendants one by one. Ever name was fcoue over, and every man was discussed. From the start It the unanimous opinion of my fellow Jurors and myself that Ortie F. McManigal iad told the truth.

We regarded his testimony as unshaken by.
